In several videos Yahtzee talks about how all mums are either casual gamers or really bad at mainstream games but I would actually call my mum a gamer as she has but every Nintendo console that has came to play with. She loves the Zelda and Mario games, some of the silent hill and a few of the resident evil games. My dad is the exact opposite he doesn't like any games, consoles or even computers. So escapists would you call your mum or dad a gamer.

My mom used to play NES back in the 80's. Same with my dad. Neither played very long after that.

My step dad doesn't play anything past 1980 and my mom's experience is limited to the SNES/Genesis era when I needed someone to play with. My parents don't really show any interest in it these days.

My father, yes. He's what spurred my interest in gaming when I was younger.

Hasn't been doing it too much as of late, health complications and all. :/

Both of my parents just think it's a waste of my money and I should have grown out of it by now.

My dad used to play a few games, but having two little kids to take care of as well as a job and me coming down every few weeks eats up most of his time, me thinks.

My mom really liked her DS, but she hasn't really played many different games on it, and most of them would be considered "casual." I've tried getting her to play other games, but she can't handle it. Even the battle system in Final Fantasy X (the one based fully on turns, not time) stressed her out too much and she couldn't do it.

My dad fails even worse. I tried playing a racing game with him, and he couldn't figure out where to go. Yeah.

My mum only plays the Snes and the sega, I tried telling her that were like 4 more consonsals ahead now but she won't listen. Also remeber she borrowed my ps2 because she wanted to play grand theft auto SA.

My father plays sports games and some Medal of Honour games on his PC. He also uses flight sims, but I can hardly call them "games".

My dad is an absolute freak when it comes to gaming. In fact, he's been working at Chuck E. Cheeses, Skate Zone, several local arcades, and even on his *own* personal collections of Arcade systems and consoles for well over thirty years.

Seriously.
We have several Street Fighter Arcades, Pole Position, Donkey Kong Junior, Star Wars Pinball, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 1+2+3, XBOX+360, Turbografix, Wonderswan, and many many many more. It's a party every time I bring a gamer friend over. In fact, my last eleven girlfriends were due to their gamer hardon for my fathers collection. Yeah, it was mainly the systems, but the whoopie was still whoopie.

One of my Mum's boyfriends was a gamer. He didn't play them too much but i'd occasionally catch him spending an entire night trying to beat something like Driver. That's the closest i have i guess :p

Oh and when i was a kid my parents used to help me out on a lot of games. My Dad did the bosses for me on Crash Bandicoot 3, and i think my Mum helped me a lot on the old Zelda games. I feel kind of sorry for making them do that, probably up all night learning the controls :p
