My mum will occasionally play ds and she is really into farmville and petville and the other shit face book games and I tried to get my dad to play so then he might buy games and I could play them but he thinks they are a wast of money.

Well, my mom is into MMORPGs. And my dad doesn't play games. Well, except for this madden game I got. He finished that one. Actually, my mom plays more games than I ever have. Huh.

My mother introduced me to adventure games (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, etc), back when I was ~3 years old. I couldn't read most of the dialog yet, but damnit it was fun. I wouldn't call her a gamer though. Solitaire is pretty much all my parents play these days...

When I was growing up my dad played through zelda 2 with me and my brother. When he became a truck drive we bought him and game boy and he played through a lot of the gameboy zelda games, links awakening, seasons and ages, minish cap. He hasn't played any other games but it was pretty cool to share a common interest with him through zelda. :)

Before she passed my mom was a casual gamer. I use the word casual because she enjoyed games like tetris and bejeweled, not so much because of the time she spent.

My dad doesn't play but he likes watching me. He always asks me "How did you know to do that?" when I figure out a puzzle. I'm not talking about complicated ones either, I mean ones that any decent gamer just...knows. You know...you can just see when something is slightly off and it probably does something.

herself to play with
Uh, you might want to edit this; "herself" is reflexive, it references to something one's doing to oneself. So you're really saying:

She plays with herself.

If you don't mind the innuendo then your mind is clearly less dirty than mine.

Anyway, non-thread-hijacking, no, neither of my parents play video games.

My dad is in his late 50s and plays a lot of games. We played through resident evil 5 together, and some borderlands, and I think he actually games more than I do since he's retired...
My mom isn't opposed to it, and I think she plays the occasional puzzle game now, but back when we had an Atari she played Robotron, and she also played a lot of Dr. Mario and Tetris.

In spite of this, she has the mentality that games are for kids, and when she saw my sister and I playing silent hill 2, she was like "Kids are supposed to play this? It seems inappropriate."

My dad was one of the original gamers way back when--hand him an Atari re-release of Centipede, Missile Command, or Asteroids and prepare to have him school your ass. He's not so anything that couldn't be considered retro these days, though...and my mum couldn't care less about just about anything electronic.

Back when I was a wee lad my dad played computer games such Baldur's Gate and Mech Warroirs the later I played in short pieces and that was probably the first game I played, though not very often. Later after my discovery of the N64 my Dad, brother, and I played against each other in Mario Kart 64. My mom tells me of a night where she came downstairs to find my dad "practicing" because he couldn't stand how my brother and I had beat him earlier. Our competitiveness got to a point where the 3 of were testing the games limits of how far ahead we could go.

When we got a Gamecube, it came with the next mario kart game which my dad just never got into, and since then he back to play games, mostly RPGs or RTSs, on the computer.

Not even close. "Video games are a waste of time", according to mine.

My stepfather is hardcore, as far as parents go (as far as Yahtzee's parents go). He plays MW2 and Halo:ODST late into the night, every night, with the guys he works with, and I get online and join him sometimes. For some reason he likes to start every day with some Bowling from the Wii Sports pack, but I don't really count that. And also, he loves all the original Nintendo stuff. He was the one who introduced me to Zelda and Mario and gaming in general. Without him, I wouldn't have started gaming nearly as early as I did.

Excuse me while I go die from laughter. My parents? Gamers? Ha! They're immigrants, so when they came to the country, they were never exposed to video games because they were always working. Also, you know the saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks"? Well, I think that applies to them.

Ah, my dad and I wasted so many hours playing Goldeneye on the N64. They skipped the gamecube, but now they have a Wii, not so much into the other consoles though.

My dad plays a lot of Solitaire does that count?

He used to play DOOM & Heretic which is how I got into video games...

Beyond the occasional game of Solitaire or Minesweeper, my mom doesn't play games. She says she doesn't really understand them.

My dad plays a little, mainly turn based strategy games like Civilization. He often says he would like to game more, and has expressed interest in games like Garry's Mod, Fallout 3, and Starcraft, but says he hasn't got the time.

Dad has been a proud gamer since the Atari era. It is thanks to him that I have a PS3 (he craved for ratchet and clank) and half of the games I play are ones he bought and finished.

Mom does word challenge on Facebook.

My dad just plays NWN and Baldur's Gate. My mom is opposed to the very nature of games and refuses to ever touch one. Opposites attract, I guess...

My Dad loved gaming and thanks to him, I have all the older consoles in working order with a stockpile of games. Sadly he doesn't have much interest now because of work and illness, but he was the one who encouraged me to game.
