i was talking to my GF today and the subject of cats came up. I have 4 and each one is a full on family member (i squirt all my family members with a watergun if they climb on the curtains or eat the houseplants).
We were talking about how cats are not considered a manly pet. for the most part i am inclined to ignore anyone who makes decisions based on how "manly" they are, but i couldn't deny that i understood where she was coming from. It was a cliche from grade school where boys had dogs and girls had cats, we never questioned why, we were 8 we never questioned anything. But this is 2009, the age of the internet and lolcats and youtube. Do people still honestly think that a person's choice in pets may risk betraying their gender?
