As for Deus Ex; I'd consider it as playable, but you have to remember that the stealth, hacking and combat mechanics all feel a bit rough, compared to what we have available nowadays. They were cutting-edge back when it first came out and it was justifiably called the game of the year by some - but obsolescence waits for even the most celebrated of titles.
Calling the stealth in Deus Ex "rough" is an understatement. I've been playing games since the 80s and still go back and play rather old stuff on a regular basis, so it's not like I'm not used to the way things used to be, but I never played Deus Ex when it was new. I finally got around to attempting to play it last year, and I just couldn't get more than a couple hours into it trying to do anything stealthily. It's a nightmare. I don't care that the game's ugly by today's standards. I do care that the cutoff for when you can and can't be detected is completely arbitrary and nonsensical. You can stand directly in front of people in bright light and not be seen from ten feet away sometimes and at other times be hidden behind a solid object halfway across the map crouching and everyone makes a beeline for you. I can live with the clunky default control layout and some of the goofy old interface mechanics that I haven't seen in years, but that just makes me cranky.

Deus ex runs rather well on Modern Machine So does morrowind and KOTOR you might need to fiddle a bit with it to get it running well.

KOTOR works fine as I recall, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it, one of the best Star Wars games in my opinion.
I've never played Morrowind, but I keep meaning to pick it up.
Deus Ex is a great game even now, but the game of the year edition is a nightmare to run on vista or 7

1. Deus Ex, is arguably one of the best games ever made. I know many people who do not enjoy it's ancient looking graphics and glitchy atmosphere, but if you are looking for quality, Deus Ex is unique and unrivaled in it's areas of skills, stealth, and storyline. Other games have matched and surpassed Deus Ex in individual areas of skill-sets, stealth, and storyline; but never have I come across a game that does all three so efficiently and seamlessly as Deus Ex. It is truly a game of options, and compared to the modern trend that so many games fall into, a trend of babying and simplifying, a trend of giving the illusion of choice but ultimately offering nothing more than horns or a halo (Fable, I'm looking at you), Deus Ex is a unique experience and a worthwhile game that I have invested many hours into. I would also suggest the HD mod that is available that sharpens and clears up the game's older graphics, as well as Shifter Mod, which introduces new innovations and gameplay characteristics, making Deus Ex mechanics almost entirely redesigned, offering multiple new choices in gameplay and tactics.

2. Morrowind is still considered by some to be a better game than Oblivion. Though personally I cannot imagine and Elder Scrolls Game competing with a healthily modded Skyrim, Morrowind was less immense, but slightly more bulkier. In essence, you could compare Morrowind and Oblivion to GTA: III, and Vice City. Vice City had significantly less script and storyline, but was a larger playing area and offered a bit more sight-seeing than GTA III. It really comes down to personally preference, however, to say that Morrowind is no longer valid after the success of Oblivion and now Skyrim, would be denying it's rightful spot as the fatherhead of the series. Morrowind is still an immense and detailed environment and was a complete redesign from Daggerfall. I would even go so far as to suggest downloading DOSBox, and playing Daggerfall, and maybe even Arena. If you are interested in Storyline and an over-arching feel of the world, the entire Elder Scrolls Series is Golden and worthwhile. (especially if you are taking notes in class, and have to have a game running that is easy to Alt+Tab).

3. I will put KOTOR 2 and KOTOR in this group as KOTOR Series, and the KOTOR Series is one of the greatest RPG's ever made. It is official Star Wars Cannon, and is fun. I preferred KOTOR 2 over KOTOR simply because of the ability to manipulate and transform your allies (not to mention avoiding the Selkath, those mumbling bastards...) but both games are great and I would suggest that any gamer who enjoys a solid and fun RPG play these games. It is a shame, in my un-humble opinion, that the series went to MMORPG format, since KOTOR 2 was hurried and released before it's true completion. It would have been nice to have the series tied together and finished with a proper trilogy, in true Star Wars Format, but luckily, with the Restoration Mod, and a still active (though diminished) modding community, the KOTOR series has been reborn multiple times.

The one beautiful thing about all three games you mentioned is the capacity for mods. Deus Ex is the weakest in this category, but still has a solid core of a few really good mods. This allows for multiple replays and an unending variation. KOTOR and KOTOR 2 still have active modding communities that still release armor and level designs, and is one of the most dedicated modding communities on the web. I would suggest playing these games, and then modding the hell outta them. The last time I had KOTOR 2 installed, I had around 4GB of Mods attached. I hope that you can see the validity and value of these games as historic, iconic, and enjoyable and not be so shortsighted as to see the quality of the graphics and assume they have somehow lost their appeal.

Entirely valid arguments.
I totally understand that sentiment. It's a good game and it's still one of the best to come out of the first decade of Y2K, but we've come a long way in terms of stealth gameplay and other security-related mechanics. The first series with a truly functional stealth mechanic in my humble opinion is the Splinter Cell franchise.

I've tried Thief titles before, but they suffer from the same problem as Deus Ex: the guards are absolute nobheads and their field of view probably doesn't go beyond their nose. Still, there's occasions where Garrett farts or steps on a creaky floorboard, and everyone sprints for his location. I'm joking, obviously, but that's how "all-or-nothing" the AI was.

Can't say I've played any of them (fully, in the case of Morrowind... played it a bit but couldn't get into it, haven't played the others at all), but as stated by other people here, a great game will ALWAYS be a great game, no matter how long it's been since release.

This is especially true in games like Baldur's Gate, and in a personal case Robinson' Requiem on the Atari STe... I loved that game but when it came out, I was only 9, so I never fully understood what I was doing... but man I wish I could play it again. Can't even find a good emulation of it :(

Oh, and for those who like point 'n' click adventures and want some nostalgia, go look up Full Throttle and Toonstruck. They were fantastic!

Of course! Thanks to Steam, i've played X-Com, the first two Fallout games, and several others. As for the list mentioned here, both Deus Ex and KOTOR are games I played relatively recently as well, and Morrowind is a game I will get to eventually.

So i'd say they are certainly playable! :D

Morrowind GOTY from Steam runs well. If you can wrap your head around its gameplay quirks and forgive its rough graphics, its a great TES entry.

Deus Ex? Eh... I dunno. Morrowind, though? Most definitely. I'm just playing it now for the first time and think it's brilliant. Every time I try to go back to Deus Ex, though... It's a little iffy after playing even Morrowind. As for KoTOR, I haven't played it, so I can't really judge there.

It depends, do older graphics bother you? If yes, then avoid all three. If you don't care about graphics at all, then all three still are great games to revisit.

Both Morrowind and KOTOR run fine on my Windows XP system. KOTOR has aged pretty well, as it still seems fairly shiny graphically (although the D&D combat system leaves a lot to be desired), and the story is the usual Bioware high standard. Morrowind has OK graphics but the combat is awful, and the insanely slow walking speed unless you spec into Speed at the start is a real killer when you're starting out. It's definitely better than Oblivion, but maybe not Skyrim.

In terms of does it work, Morrowind worked like a charm on my old laptop and has some mildly annoying glitches on my new one. KOTOR crashed after the first planet on my old one, so I gave up on it with my new one. Deus Ex has never worked on either.

In terms of is it any fun to play, I have no opinion on Deus Ex and what I played of KOTOR was fine. Morrowind is the best of the best, still top 3 GOAT for me, throw in the expansions and the Tamriel Rebuilt mods and you'll be happy for a long time

Most definitely. Some parts will be problematic or frustrating, but a good game is still a good game even if it is old.
