I think they're 100% okay; if 100% jokingly made.
It's a pretty poor way to get offended anyway.

Me and my friends call it 'casual racism/sexism' and it's fine by us, we don't run the risk of offending anyone by making a 'racist' joke when there's nobody among us that cares. In most cases the jokes people say would work no matter the race/gender of the subject of the joke, but the joke needs someone, and it may as well be a black man, or a white man, or a woman, or a dog it doesn't really make much of a difference.

My best advice here is the fewer people around, the better. Know the people who are around you. Also, women are a little bit more sensitive, especially when they don't know you're joking.

Funny thing about jokes is that you could tell a joke on stage in front of an audience of 20,000 and everyone would laugh, but tell the same joke in front of five people, one of whom you don't know that well, and suddenly you're King Douche.

Never tell an offensive joke unless you're in front of people you know well or on stage in front of thousands of people. Anywhere in between is Lewis & Clark territory.

On racism:
I have Asian friends and I make fun of them for being Asian and they make fun of me for being white, It's all a joke and I don't think anyone takes it seriously.
But then again, Asians seem to like taking the piss, people like mychonny love to make fun of Asians despite being Asian.

A joke is a joke, jokes offend people. It all comes down to if your upset or not. So yes the joke was fine in my book.

Well, I've never been particularly bullied for my ethnicity or gender, so I'm not sure what it feels like, but if it feels anything like the bullying I regularly receive for having orange hair, then no, racist and sexist jokes are not ok.

I'd like to paraphrase the late, great, George Carlin here for a moment.
words CANNOT hurt you. take the word "******" for example. it's JUST a word! what you SHOULD be worried about is the racist asshole USING the word.

I'll make jokes about people of all races, religions, and genders, but that doesn't mean I'm a racist/sexist asshole.
Cant put it better than this. Stick and stones etc.

I make jokes about all races, religions, and genders. If someone hears it out loud and is offended, in my head I just feel they have to grow up and stop pigeon holing people into different classes and standards. This view may have come from my background, I don't know (I used to live in a small 100% white populated town and have just moved to a big city), but I feel if everything is not okay to joke about, then nothing is.

Of course its okay. I have a lot of female friends, all of them (Well okay most of them) i highly respect because they're cool upbeat and funny. But i dont see a problem with say my friend complaining she fell down the stairs and hurt her leg last week and i say "Wow thats weird, stairs in the kitchen?"

I think theres a difference between a noticable joke and an outright attack. If someone is truely sexist or racist it will clearly show, but if its a joke id say its all good, so long as you're willing to appologise if someone gets offended (Which they really shouldnt be if you play the joke well)

i'm all for freedom of speech so in my opinion even racial/sexist slurs in the most serious manner are ok
people who get offended by words victimize themselves

If the person you're talking to might be offended and you don't want that, don't say it.

It is entirely relevant to the people involved and how they will take it. You can have opinions on whether or not it should be OK in their eyes, but it's still subjective.

Sometimes it can be less about WHAT is said, and more about HOW it is said. I think that most sexist and racist jokes are funny unless there is some sort of malicious intent is present

However, humour and intent are purely subjective measures so it can be hard to know when to draw the line at times. As a consequence I think that such jokes are better when told face to face, rather than written down.

As long as no one gets offended
Something will always offend someone.

OT: Depends on how its said, who you're with, who you say it too, how extreme the content is, etc.

There's nothing wrong with what you said.

Of course it's ok it's a joke after all, and not an attack.
Exactly! There's real racism and sexism, where people dont get jobs or money or HOUSES. Sexism and racism that quite literally RUINS LIVES. Then theres a freakin joke. People who get all wound up over the jokes are totally missing the bigger picture. This is NOT the same as that. The joke does NOT encourage the serious discrimination. Its a joke. Why dont these whiney people tackle these bigger issues instead of attacking jokes? Because they are lazy. And the bigger issues are hard and ingrained. Its easy to attack a joke because it has no firm ground to stand on... because its a joke. It isnt serious. It cant be defended seriously. And what they dont realise is it also cant be attacked seriously.
