Are smart people attractive?

Smart people with a good sense of humour are the best for me.

I could never date someone who was dumb, or took themselves to seriously.

Smart people can be difficult too. Especailly the `I`m the alpha male ` debators

But, when it comes to looks, I like chubby guys, so I am not really pursuing the ideal of `attractiveness` as such. Not that I mind.

Unfortunantly and to my eternal shame it's looks that make me interested in the opposite gender. Again to my shame I have been unable to date enough people to get an accurate read on my own interpretations on beauty. So I am going to have to say, looks will get someones attention while it's only through a strong personality that the person will actually stay interested. Conversation has to change over time and develop, if the person can't make adequate (sp?) conversation they might as well leave cause it won't work out.

Its always a plus, but when someone sees someone else for the first time they look at their physical appearance, not their mental capabilities. Intelligence is the second thing that they notice.

Well if I can get a bit of both that would be ideal but since we don't live in an ideal world I would have to say I would go for the brains over the looks. I wouldn't be able to stand dating someone who was absolutely hot but had about the same brain capacity as a retarded monkey and would have a highly unlikely chance of actually holding an intelligent conversation that didn't involve the persons muscles... So definitely brains. If I can have an intelligent conversation with the person and they can hold my interest then I would definitely date them over the hot guy who is just nice to look at but just about nothing else to them.
