Yeah, smarts over looks anyday. You can always get something done to improve your looks but there is very little you can do about being stupid.

I would say that attractive as an adjective is a relative term, but to be in a relationship, I need to be attracted to them. I would be attracted to someone who is smart, and I might not be attracted to someone who is too pretty and not smart enough...if any of that makes sense.

I find intelligence to be sexy. But it has to be backed up with physical attractiveness of some level. Not necessarily your typical super hotness either. Cute and nerdy girls that have a good personality and are intelligent are great. Kind of like Fred on Angel or Scully on X-Files. Both of those types of women would be super awesome in a relationship.

Yes intelligence is very attractive however there needs to be a few things to come with that.
Things like kindness, a sense of humor, and personality. You can still be mean, not funny, and boring.
But it really depends if you like it, which I do.

I would say that intelligent people have an easier time being charismatic, which is vastly more important than appearence for guys who are looking for shallow/fun relationships. If you are smart and confident, great. If you are one of those partially autistic guys who is super brainy but doesn't make eye contact then give up on a mate or change. That has been my experience, anyways.

A lot of good answers so far.

I love intelligence. Alot. It makes or breaks a chance at dating me. Average intelligence even turns me off.

I find intelligence attractive. But it depends on the whole package. As long as we have somewhat similar interests as well as some different ones and the guy is smart and creative, that's a good sign. I've always been a big bookworm, gamer, and overall giant nerd, so I need someone who complements that. I like the way my boyfriend thinks and most of how he sees the world, and one of the things I found really attractive at first was his creativity.

All things being equal being smart would be a perk, but it depends on what kind of smart. Do they have only book smarts but no common sense, which could get annoying. Are they smart, know they are smart and/or are smug about it, you know stuff like that.

This.

At the risk of sounding like a self-centered egotistical prick (have I recently mentioned my hatred of the English language? I'm half thinking that C++ is a much better language and we should all start communicating in code), if a girl can't hold down an intellectual conversation with me repeatedly, I'm not interested.

A "good time with the wife" to me would be curling up by a fireplace with my significant other talking about various subjects, ranging from politics to philosophy to history to...

i was lucky and scored both ^^

however, a smart person with the same looks as a stupid person would be a hella lot more attractive than the latter.

Agreed. I tend to facepalm each time a girl listens to my normal vocabulary and announces that I use too many big words.

Philosophy is lovely and so is history. There is nothing quite like a "what if ..." discussion. Especially with a girlfriend.

Well, considering they're not ego-manic bodybuilders, it does increase my chances of liking them.

Intelligence and a scientific worldview are definetly the most attractive qualities in a woman. Or course being pretty doesn't hurt, but I can't imagine being attracted to someone who doesn't like thinking.

Also, I can't imagine dating someone who has completely different interests from mine, and with whom I couldn't talk with.

I never really thought of it, but I guess that CAN be listed as a turn-off, can't it? Cool.
EDIT: Problem with intelligent women who share my interests is that I've yet to meet one. QQ
That and everyone I've met in science is a competitive prick, because we all want to be successful.[/quote]

It's a bit surprising, considering the expansion in the field. Scientists are in high demand, if I remember correctly.

Me, too. All the intelligent girls I have met so far have very little interest in history or Law. I keep my hopes up, however.

Don't we all, don't we all.. Maybe not too huge though. It's slightly disturbing to see someone's eyes shrink to half the size they were before. And ofc, saying "Woah." Isn't going to let Her find You attractive. Neither will telling her you've got a fetish for her glasses. But yeah, grawr.

OT: Yup, i really do. I'm smart myself, a little stupid though (Begins to annoy even me sometimes). Which means it doesn't matter if i find them attractive, actually finding someone who finds me attractive will be incredibly hard. (Once they get to know me, they don't stick around.)

You are not the only one. I can't tell you how many guys have said that they like my glasses. I had thought about getting contacts again but since so many guys love my glasses, I may just keep them.

To me yes.

Yesterday most of the schools in belfast where at jordanstown university, we had a field day looking at the grammer school girls.

Intelligence is certainly attractive, and I more than once have lost interest in a woman when she showed herself to be dumb.
