Are teens lazy?

'Teens' is quite a weird category. When I was thirteen my only duties were really to help clean the house and do my homework. When I was nineteen I was in a job to pay 'rent' at my girlfriend's place, to buy my (and often her) food, and shovelling money toward the same girlfriend who hinted she would leave me if I continued being poor, then I'd go climbing the city with friends at night.
I worked as hard as circumstance let me, and still came out of it with a debt.

People are as lazy as circumstance, and often upbringing, allows them to be.

That depends. Some are. Some adults are as well.
Except nobody makes a big deal about teenagers doing all their coursework, finding a job/sending off all their college/uni applications ASAP. Because that's what they're supposed to do.
People just focus on the ones who do fuck all, which means whenever you hear about teenagers it's either the lazy ones. So all you can think is teenagers=lazy.

Pisses me off is that some teenagers feel like the world owes them a favor. Always great to see some teen hating life when he starts a job at McDonalds. It is not as fun as you thought it was going to be you little self entitled shit.
Heh, I often think that when it comes to self-serving politicians or bankers but hey, it's just easier to pick on someone smaller right? =P

At least teenagers would survive a job at mcdonalds for all the pay they get, I'd imagine Eric Pickles (youtube his name on question time) comitting suicide after an hour of standing there before he even starts working

Some arel, some arent, jjust like grownups.

though in all reality, I think some teens work harderthan grownups do on average. especially if you odnt get your parents support and yu have to pay all your bills, which is a lot harder when you make min wage or less.

As has been said by most people in this thread that as far as "lazy" goes teenagers aren't really any different than anybody else. The only thing that comes to mind that would make it appear to be so is that teenagers generally don't have to support their own existence and thus aren't forced to work as much as the average adult in order to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.

Always pick on people that deserve it. Really have no patience for people that think the world owes them something. Can tell you that it is a mentality that runs rampant in teenagers. Had the same attitude when I was younger as well. Everyone usually grows out of it once they get their first shitty job. Of course some people never drop the habit. People live in this little bubble of comfort when all they have to worry about is school. Sure there are bullies, dead lines, all that jazz.
Ohh yes, this guy is definately NOT lazy in any way possible, he FULLY understand the struggles and challenges that the population (he makes the decisions for) go through every day, this is what makes him qualified to be in government >_> (/ sarcasm)

Example starts at the top and this man, in my view, is a horrible, vile and disgusting lazy fat pig yet for some reason he is worth a thousand of me and you, he literally moans about having to take a train to work, then he cries about having to be in work on time cause apparently that's so fucking difficult for him, then he shows his utter ignorance of average life believing people don't work till the morning hours every day!
Hows that for a bubble of comfort?

I think you can cut teenagers some slack when we put crapbags like that into highly paid, unproductive positions of power

Well I wasn't lazy when it came to my band, guitar practice or socializing... but high school was such a bore and I couldn't be bothered to do too well in there. Now I realize I was being a little shit and I should have done better (even though I still think high school is a load of crap).

The oldest recorded instance of the sentence "kids these days are lazy" was found in a Roman ruin, painted on a wall (their version of graffiti).

That is all I have to say to anyone who utters the phrase "kids these days..."

Maybe the problem is high expectations and not laziness?
People keep telling really young kids how special and awesome they are.
Then later in life they notice it doesn't match up with reality, since we're all just sort of average (which is really bad) at most things. Then we feel bad about it, because "they could do better if they just applied themselves" and get even more unmotivated.

Everyone is lazy. Everyone. There are many different kinds of laziness, however.

The only mitigating factor is that many have the fortitude to overcome that fault.

Im a teacher, Im not much older then some of the kids I work with. I wouldnt say they are all lazy, indeed many work hard. However some are dispondant, I dont blame them, who isnt reluctant to do things they dont want to? Who chooses to do tasks when its difficult to discern the meaning? And who wont get away with less when less will do?

Teenagers are not lazy, many though are unmotivated, unpaid unrespected but also irresponsible. But in todays age where the younger generations are given consoles and the internet up until they hit 18 then told to go out into a world with no jobs for them where their opinions are not held as valid and where frankly they are not always geared towards in education (though thats the curriculums fault argeuably) who can blame them?

But yes there are some who are spoilt @:{(^%: but they tend to be spoilt @&%$" adults too.
