The fact, as this thread demonstrates, is that most gamers these days look entirely normal, particularly as the hobby enters the mainstream. Sure, there are some of us who look truly repulsive and vile:

but we're the exception rather than the rule. Even I don't conform to the overweight part of the stereotype; my repulsiveness is largely to do with extreme and irreversible cranial asymmetry. Of course, most of the people here have called themselves somewhat attractive, and in that case, I'm definitely the exception rather than the rule, but then again, there is nobody who has posted a picture who seriously has as many problems regarding their appearance as me.

Sorry, what?
I've seen you complain about your looks on this site for quite some time now, the words hideous and repulsive were used frequently. As a result, I had this image of you being some Jabba the Hut look-a-like or someone whose face looks as though it had been burned with acid but you're just a normal looking guy. I think you need some serious self-evaluation time with the mirror.

OP: It's a silly assumption to make based on a hobby and, obviously, she has been proved wrong. This seems to have morphed into a rate my photo thread, there are photos of me in other threads but I'm not bothered with the effort of posting one in this particular one.

That was me a year ago leaving work (when I was working in a computer shop (read playing wow all day))...Prob the best I've ever looked so I took the pic...Too things fill my life if you exclude work...Mountain biking and Gaming, people generally guess that I am 'extreme sports' but not e-sports...Prob would do now cause I look like an unwashed cave man but thats besides the point xD

*any excuse to show that photo is taken xD sorry*

My ex wife was a model for Suicide girls and she was more Hardcore than me in mmo's xD
If you cut your hair a bit you'd look kinda like Adam Jensen from Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I'd say there are alot of attractive geeks or maybe I have low standards.

I refuse to judge myself. So you can all tell me whether I am of not.

This interview is cool, but kinda pisses me off at the same time. Mila Kunis so badly wants to geek out on national television, but Jimmy Kimmel keeps making fun of her and tries to reign her in, like she's admitting to being a serial killer or something...

Anyway. This thread is starting to get a bit camwhorey. I mean, in the course of "disproving" the 'ugly nerds' stereotype, you're all kind of affirming the 'rampantly egotistical narcissist nerd' stereotype. Just sayin'.

Taken on my phone, at about 7:30am, so I just got up.

I've been told I'm not hideous, so that's a good thing ;P

EDIT: Also, I can't forget Stephanie Bendixen, possibly the second-hottest nerd I've ever seen. (my girlfriend is the first XD)

Im happy enough with the way i look so i dont care about uploading a photo, you can thank me later, but what i wanted to say is about the people who are claiming looks arent important. Sure, for the purposes of this topic, grouping looks with a hobbie or culture doesnt matter. Im not arguing that. Gamers come in all shapes and sizes, hot or not. The point i want to say is that looks matter, like it or not. You know this deep down. Your standards may vary but looks matter. I refrain from making the obvious 'would you date this hideous person?' ploy because thats just retarded.

*End Rant*

Hmm, I think I'm pretty average for a gamer, I'd upload more photos but y'know... I can't fucking remember my photobucket account password so FUUUU-

She wants to know how old are you?
Apparently she wants to know the range of ages of gamers.
Between the ages of 6 and 66.
Little kids playing Pokemon or Pikmin, or older folks playing Sims or Civilization.
I've known all kinds of people of all kinds of ages that play games. While I may not consider Sims a game, and say Farmville is a waste of time, but people still play them, and they're still considered games. I think it weird if people don't play ANY games at all.

OK, pitching in here, since I'm told I'm not too shabby looking.
Whoracle! What're you doing off of GitP? Tsk tsk. :p

I'm... not amazing looking, to be honest. But I utterly resent that your sister stereotypes people in that way; people don't game because they're ugly, and games don't make people ugly. We're just ordinary folks. Sure, there are some stereotypes which may connote a certain level of attractiveness- for example, a cheerleader. Cheerleading is, let's face it, skewed towards attractiveness more than skill. But anybody can game, unlike cheerleading.

Here's me [http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/226104_10150559297880254_633955253_18496216_3214407_n.jpg] if anyone actually cares:

Yes, I have a terrible smile.

Its possible, and your sister might just be a twat for going to that sterotype again.... She probably isn't but what do I care.

I get told I'm handsome, and I've even been hit on by girls.
And I'm nowhere near chubby.
I'm not all that athletic any more, but my metabolism is stupid high, so I probably couldn't get fat even if I tried to.
As far as appearances go, I don't think I really fit into the stereotype.
I thought the same way back when I was 145lbs. That was 5 years ago. Then, Financial stress kicked in, and in those 5 years have gained 20lbs.

Might gain more next year after my hubby graduates from TTU, but from something entirely different. ;)

EDIT: By then we'll have all of our finances in place.

Well this is the most amusing set up to a picture thread I've seen. I'm not feeling posting myself (also ship seemed to have sailed by now), but maybe next time.
