Are there games even close to this?

So I had a dream last night. Yes it's odd, but I dreamt of my perfect game. It had minecraft mechanics for gathering resources and building. It had npc's that lived their own lives and that you could interact with. (hostile or not) It allowed you to marry, tame animals, educate 'savages' (they looked like cavemen) to become your workers. And it had things like dragons, giants, but also normal animals and such to hunt or fight against. It also had a system for hunger, needing sleep in a shelter, etc. And lastly one for levelling up. You'd basically start out like in minecraft, having nothing and in the middle of nowhere. But by exploring you could find small settlements and such. Or you could build your own village, educate savages to occupy it, and build your own complete settlement and such.

So I'm wondering, if there a game that comes even close to this? Minecraft had the building, but not even close to the survival part. Skyrim has the interaction (kind of) and levelling system, but not really much of the building and survival. As far as I know such a game doesn't exist, but I've found in the past that the collective minds on this forum know a lot more than I do. :)

This sounds like it should be a Skyrim mod. Or a Minecraft mod.

Minerim? Skycraft?

Anyway it sounds like a lot of fun and I'd buy it. To answer your question, I'm not aware of a game quite like that.

modded skyrim, morrowind or oblivion would be the way to go
Already figured the closest thing I might come to such a game would be skyrim mods. But that gathering resources and building stuff minecraft style was quite essential. And you can't get that in Skyrim. Not even with Heartfire.

Pretty sure all that is covered with Minecraft mods, at least half I had running myself.
But of course dreams are never the same in practice, Minecraft still has very poor combat, the game is buggy, the mods are buggy, combined mods are a nightmare and every time Minecraft gets updated most of it breaks.

Perhaps it's something a new Minecraft clone could pick up and try.

I like this whole "educating savages" idea. I imagine it would be a lot like being a school teacher in Stoke-on-Trent.

You would only be able to teach them how to put things in vans though. Perhaps you could write a script to enable tamed animals to do the driving?

This thread sounds like fortresses of dwarves (hilarious results ensue, have fun.)

Just try to learn ASCII interface, and read tale of Koganusan for shenanigans that will be faced.

Dwarf Fortress sounds pretty close to that. It's difficult to get into, at first, but very rewarding.

Can be hilarious, too.
