Yes, there are way too many Guitar Heroes. Rock Band hasn't annoyed me to the level Red Octane has, but they could reach that event horizon very soon.

Yes, oh my god yes. Waaaay too many. I want them to stop making guitar hero's immediately. I'm so sick of this plastic guitar crap.

Clearly not, or they'd stop making them. As long as people buy them, there isn't too many.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and open a rift to another dimension to kill off everything that comes out with a shotgun to the face. I find it's just as easy as booting up Doom.

Theres too many, yes.
But its leading to semi-original things such as DJ-Hero
Which personally, im getting as soon as my wallet stops eating my cash.
And to the people saying play a real instrument
I do play a real instrument, I play bass.
But my friends are too brain-dead to play anything other then the triangle.

You could just have one and update it by cheap DLC. Urgh.
Oh but that wouldn't make nearly a much money as releasing the exact same game mechanic for three game, adding a real/viable upgrade, and then releasing the same game three more times! Because then you can charge $60 for the new game and not like $15 for the DLC!

Seriously, yes, there are too many. When you release one approximately every year- or sometime, less than that- you've got too many games. And, as I've seen, the game mechanic- the core mechanic, that is- has changed for jack shit between each game. Press one of five buttons (not counting the switch thing on the guitar here) when a little round thingy (in one of five possible slots) tells you to. In other words, DDR for the fingers. There we go, that's the entire franchise in a nutshell.

Not that I have anything against the games themselves- I don't like them, but let people play them- but I do despise how they just change the song lineup and release a new $60 game and everyone rants and raves about "Best game of the year omfg omfg omfg", ignoring that they said that about the last one that came out earlier that same year.

So yes, too many games. They could all be fixed with DLC or a cheaper (i.e. not $60) disc.

The problem i see without having a lot of new games with new songs is that some people dont have big hard drives or their using memory cards so they dont have to room to download alot of songs. That and Microsoft points can be weird.

Anyway, OP, here's how you answer your question:

1) Are people enjoying the game.
If yes, continue.
2) Are people buying the game.
If yes, stop complaining.
If no, stop complaining.

Yes, it would be better for the customers if they released one game and then released playlists as DLC.

But fuck the customer, money comes first.
You know what? This is quite ironic. Oh sure, it might benefit them in the short term but it will fuck them up in the long term. Displeasing customers in the game business (or any other business for that matter) is a big No-No. Oversaturating the market with games that they don't need is another No.

Proof: Guitar Hero III was the peak of the series in the sales matter but ever since, the sales have been going downhill. The development costs will rise with each new installment and the series will be selling less with each new installment. Can you guess where this is going?

Yes.

They don't even do anything different until World Tour. And they started this whole "Game based primarily on one band" trend, which is annoying as hell, as well as stupid.

At least there are only 3 Rock Bands, with one being a direct sequel that actually makes sense (since most of its new features couldn't hve been DLC), and one being a one-band game that can at least be defended by saying "It was the only way they would let us use their songs".

They all seem the same to me =/
GH sux0rz anyway. I usually do vocals and couldn't even finish them on beginner, but I get 100% in rock band.
