No.
It's not hard.
People back in the days (You know... PRE-Guitar Hero) started "garagebands" every day.
Now?
They pretend to have bands.
In a game.
Even I, as a extreme anti-socialist, find that stupid
Ok.
First of all people still have garage bands (like me for instance) so it's not like you're losing anything from people playing it. People don't even pretend like it's anything like having actual band or playing an actual instrument. People don't play it any more excessively than people would get together to play any other 4 player game.

Also what's the big difference between this and people "pretending" to be airline pilots by playing flight simulator (I actually know one person who thinks he could fly a plane just because he plays that game), or people "pretending" to be soldiers from playing Call of Duty (again a load of people I know think they know all there is to know about guns because they play it obsessively).

The only reason that people like you are bashing it is because of the peripherals which do nothing but make it a better game. Also have you considered how many bands have found fame through music games or people that have found bands? I found Tool through GH:WT and now they're my favourite band.
Name five garage bands you have seen in recent years. You can't because guitar hero has taken over music. We say "ooh they are so cool! Lets pretend to play there songs on pieces of shitty plastic!"

It's just far more boring than setting up with three mates and playing pretend instruments because all we really want is to piss around and pretend we're in a band for a bit.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I sold off Fallout 3 to get Borderlands, so I have to nuke Washington DC and get a dog. It'll be exactly the same!

There are that many bands in my school. So that throws your argument out straight away.

No, because now real music is only for the motivated.

Also, the game does it's intended purpose - to kill time in the form of action buttons. You can't have too much of something that simple.

That being said, I don't play Rock Band or Guitar Hero more than once every 2nd full moon.

If people want to waste their money on those games then let them, and I suppose I can only applaud anyone who can take advantage of those people. However, I won't buy a single one of the games, and I'd rather not that anyone plays them in my vicinity.

I loved Guitar Hero when it came out. Same with GH2. Right around that time I started playing the actual guitar. GH3 was fun to play in my dorm, but I didn't really have any desire to buy it. Now it's been almost three years since I started playing the guitar and I'm really sick of the "...Hero" games. And being a drummer means that the same applies to the Rock Band series and the full-band Guitar Heroes. But if you enjoy them, go ahead and play them. They just aren't interesting to me anymore.

I just realised - What happened to GH4? I remember 3 and now we have 5? How odd.

But yes, I do. I also think the accessories are ridiculously priced, especially the Beatles controllers.

Please don't compare playing real guitar to playing Guitar Hero. I play the real thing, but I think GH can be fun in small in small doses. But, when kids do pretty much nothing but play Guitar Hero, until they're good enough to ace every song on Expert, that annoys me. Think of what they could have achieved had they used all the time they spent playing GH actually playing an instrument. That actually develops skill that someone actually cares about. So , if you play GH just cause you think it's fun, knock yourself out. If you play to get good, and think that your "skills" will actually impress someone, go play in the traffic.

There are far far far too many guitar hero`s out there. I cannot keep track and all I really care about is the songs.

Still, I would not object if they released a Bon Jovi Guitar Hero

Sorry but no. First of all if people want to play a game let them. Not everything has to be taken so seriously. I enjoy the occasional game of Call of Duty. Should I join the army? Second, surely Guitar Hero has lead to more people wanting to start their own band. People were starting to lose interest in rock music and without it we'd have nothing but white guys desperately trying to rap. Thirdly...

Not only that, but from what I read a real guitar can cost over 300$ For ONE guitar. And that's on the low end, the higher end ones can cost in the thousands of dollars. Not only that, but if you want differents sounds, you have to buy MORE guitars. Most people don't have thousands of dollars to spend on real guitars for all the different bands they like but they can buy a fake one for 200$.

Oh, and by the way? Some of us just aren't good enough to play a real guitar. I know I can only play hard, not expert, on guitar hero, I could NEVER play a real guitar. I'm just not that good.

You could just have one and update it by cheap DLC. Urgh.
This, like it would be so much more awesome. Then maybe the developers could spend more time licensing so much more songs that they finally get round to the ones I want to get.
