ya thats right lego rock band and some of the features are just... they have a option to not include the into's and outro's so younger games with short attention spands don't get bored. i mean really come on

You could just have one and update it by cheap DLC. Urgh.
They could, but then how would they make millions out of gullible people?

This is a stupid argument.
"Oh, you enjoy playing [shitty fps]?
WHY NOT GO OUT AND FIGHT SOME REAL [terrorists, aliens] YOU FAG!"

Seriously?
What is up with that bullshit.
Do not even pretend that makes any sense.
It does not.
Bad argument.

I would if I could. Issue is, I'd get killed pretty fast... Life in the real world doesn't regenerate like that. Also even if I somehow managed to get out of a war like that without a scratch I'd still be thrown in jail faster than Fox News could write the article blaming videogames about it.

Fortunately none of those things apply to learning a real instrument! So, your argument is invalid.

I'm waiting on a Jukebox Hero game, I have stars in my eyes!
In all seriousness, all these rhythm games do the same thing with different songs and the occasional new gimick, not all that unlike Nintendo or maybe a faint relation to Disney.

Whilst it's easy and quite frankly justified to hate the onslaught of [word] Hero games, I think it only got out of hand once they starting pumping out identical titles under different names.

Guitar Hero II and III had obvious improvements over their predecessors, which is a good thing. They were releasing new games that actually moved the series forward and developed the game a bit. But once they began grinding out the individual band games (Aerosmith and Metallica) is when they stopped going anywhere. Whilst I was interested in the Metallica game, as a fan of the band, they didn't actually put anything dramatically new in there other than the songs and some characters/items/venues. Something they could have just added as DLC, even it the download pack cost £20 or so I think that people probably would have bought it rather than a separate disc.

Then they started branching out. Band Hero and DJ Hero both look and sound pretty dull, but they will sell because people want achievements and will undoubtedly buy/rent the game which further encourages the developers/publishers to give their game pump another squeeze.

I've never played Rock Band because of my deep down disliking of EA. Ironically because they release countless hollow games in the guise of sequels, which Activision have also started doing. But there isn't much difference between the two games other than the fact they have different controllers and names. The only fun that comes from the [word] Hero and Rock Band games is guessing who will release more 'unique' titles in a year.

In a nutshell, there were too many music rhythm games after Guitar Hero World Tour. And there shouldn't be any more unless they come up with some seriously cool new features.

a lot of people seem to not like the game a lot. saying how it is stupid and you should just play a real instrument with a real band but to be honest it seems to me like a party game, few people take it seriously enough to play it for anything other than to show off or for parties.

To me, the game was fun (gasp) the whole concept sounded a little ridiculous and to be honest i only ever got it as a gift but none the less it was fun, a little difficult to get the hang of but soon enough i was getting them all or hard (not expert.)

it was a fun idea like the eye toy or perhaps the wii but in order for a game like this to work consistently you need to keep the flow of content steady and high quality and it's sad to say but you can't generate timeless classics on demand. seeing as they blew most of the best songs on the first 4 (1,2,80s,3) they were running out of ideas while the hardcore fan base cried for more. but there was no more to give and they turned the game from solid hard rock to mainstream music which was perhaps the most damming moment of all.

besides taking a huge chunk out of it's fan base (which it desperately tried to crawl back with the Metallica version) it had officially turned it into a novelty just like the eye toy. and like the eye toy there is only so far you can take a novelty like that. the pinnacle was guitar hero 3. now we're puttering out into nothingness. there are really two right options here. I think they should either axe the thing once and for all or wait a couple of years for some new material.

Well, this went downhill quickly.

Anyway, I like the GH games but they don't need to release one every year. Maybe a massive one every 3 years with about 150 songs. The last one I bought was World Tour and I haven't had a desire to buy any more.

My point (which I explained many times after that post,) is that there's no incentive to learn to play a real instrument if all you want to do is play a stupid game.
+ Better Graphics
+ Better, Downright Unlimited Gameplay
+ Better Sound Quality
+ The difference between this [http://www.metalmadmen.com/Larry/images/22E_zakk_wylde3.jpg] and this [http://www.nerve.com/CS/blogs/date-machine/guitar-hero-yessssss.jpg]
+ You can play any music ever. No need for an expansion, at all.
+ You can ACTUALLY play the music instead of playing Simon Says to the rhythm.
+ You can even make up your own musics! Will you look at that!

In fact the only downside is the bigger initial investment, which you get back quickly once you realize you don't need to buy expansions every other month just to play different musics. Amazing thing.

THAT said, my gripe with your post wasn't that you didn't want to learn guitar, but that you used a completely ludicrous example to justify it.
