This is disturbing. I din't know it was possible for that many people, kids or not, to be that stupid.

As to the title, maybe both. They don't pay attention because they're stupid, they get stupider because they don't pay attention. It's a vicious cycle.

Typical Daily Mail propaganda. It says there that 40% of kids in the study don't know Remembrance Day is on November 11th. The still means that the majority do know what day it is, and to be perfectly honest I only know that it's some time in Autumn. So 12 percent thought the McDonald's arches symbolise Remembrance Day. Again that means that the vast majority do know what the correct symbol is, and lets not forget that the study range starts with 9 year olds. How many of you actually knew the answers to most of these questions when you were 9? I doubt I did. And come on, this is the Daily Mail. If they ran the headline "Grass is Green" I'd want to get it double checked.

I'm going to point out the ironic (as I'm sure others already have) and note the grammatical errors in your poll.

That being said, I don't necessarily believe kids are getting any dumber, I think that expectations (of educators, parents) are getting lower and kids are becoming more entitled. They think they deserve everything without having to work for it.

For instance, I work in games, and I worked my ASS off to get here. When I was in a Gamestop once there was some emo girl in there talking about how she should be a game designer because her ideas were so great. So, I asked her if she had a website where I could check out some of the games she's made. Surprise, surprise- she had never made a game. She got very offended when I told her that EVERY game designer I know has been making games (both board games and computer games) their entire life and worked very hard to get where they are. She seemed to think she just deserved to work in the industry.

THAT is the kind of attitude I see from lots of kids these days. Absolutely ZERO common sense.

2000 isn't really an accurate depiction of our children. Although I have to admit, I would probably see some people in my school taking some of that as fact.

No, kids aren't getting more stupid. It's just that people don't want to admit that, statistically speaking, some kids are gonna be stupid.
Thats a problem since you're saing because people don't want to accept some are stupid they are saying they are all getting less inteligent...

doesn't work since they'd be saying that what they are denying exists...

[hey were stupid to begin with. 20.8% (30)]

I didn't choose this option, but that's 30 people who have no faith in the future.

Being fifteen myself, seeing stuff like this angers me. I have to stand up for my generation and say this:

There always have been and always will be stupid people. I'll bet you there were plenty of dumb kids in your generation as well.

Jesus christ, everyone pretends it's a sudden phenomenon. I'll bet you there are plenty of retarded adults who have no fucking clue about D-Day either. It has nothing to do with this generation.
^ This. I hope you're a girl, because then I can love you. Legally. Without fearing religious prosecution.
Sorry to disappoint, but you better get your religious prosecution pants on.

"Adolf Hitler was Germany's football manager"

Seriously? Are they making this shit up? It's either the parents fault for not wanting their kids to grow up hating Hitler or whatever, and told them that when they say "Mommy, who's Hitler?" or the kids are having a laugh at the government's expense.

I personally pray it's the latter.

hur hur, ur stooopid

well them, I must say that I am simply appalled by these readings, assuming they are true, and we need to teach them that the McDonalds arches are to symbolize JESUS! (it can work, but I can think of nothing)

One more jab to today's kids:

My 12 year old nephew can name all the Pokemon characters but he can't tell me who the last 5 Presidents were.

Answer:
G.W. Bush
Bill Clinton
G Bush Sr.
Ronald Reagan
Jimmy Carter

There's always stupid kids, and there's smart kids.
They're not ALL stupid.

This thread is irrelevant.

Does it make me a bad person if i find this utterly hilarious?

PS. Yes kids today are stupid as fuck.
To be honest with you, I did find it pretty funny when I first read it.

Being 14 and stuff like this angers me as well. I find this disturbing that kids my age didn't know about Auschwitz and D-Day, I kind of find it disrespectful to the people who die in the Holocoust and in battle. Tell you the truth everybody in my class pays attention in their lessons, well some of them don't but by saying that its a bit ironic because I never pay 100% attention in religious studies.

EDIT: the post was different to the standard whiny kids post.

Yeah most kids are idiots - Just like most adults.

I've met dozens of adults that don't know a THING.
