An awesome game, too bad my original version for GBA was corrupted and couldn't save the game.

Oh well, I'm getting a Nintendo DS today/tomorrow, so I'll be able to FINALLY play it outside of an Emulator.

I miss golden sun... such a good game...
I got stuck on the second one, tried again a year later and finally completed it :)
I hope they make a third game :)

I still have my cartridge of Golden Sun I've had since I was a kid. Was the first GBA game I bought along with the sideways GBA with no backlighting. And I got so far, before my idiot redhead hyper cousin accidentally saved over my save data! GRRR NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER LEND HIM ANY HANDHELD AGAIN.

Anyway, Golden Sun is easily my favorite GBA RPG since I didn't own any other ones, though I had Fire Emblem and Pokemon Leaf Green Version... never played the second Golden Sun though, never got to find it in a shop.

Hell Yeah I am never letting that game go.

It is the ONLY GBA game in which I did not mind grinding my thumbs into bloody stumps. The story was so excellent and unlike most JRPG's the story was solid and truly compelling. How awesome would it be to have game 3 released on PC or some other hyper advanced console in full 3D.

Sadly it ended with a cliffhanger plot and Golden Sun 3 will never show it's face.

Still one of the best Hand held RPG's I have ever played. All the gameplay mechanics blended well with each other and made a nice balance for newby players and veteran rpg players which in my books is a fundamental principal of RPG's. I remember I decided to do a speed run through the game with full completion....beat it in 12 hours, thats with all the best gear and all the djinn, that was one awesome sunday.

Played through the first game 5 times, and the second 3 times. And now I want to play both all over again >.<

Sadly I can't get it emulated on my PSP... looks like I'll have to go look for my old GBA SP and toss away 1 of the 3 save slots :(
I'll mess around with the classes this time, too. Assigning each element to the corresponding Djinni equals easy mode, I think I can give myself a harder time this time around

I've always found GS and GS:TLA to be a bit easy, aside from Dullahan (who I've never managed to beat without extreme cheesing). Surprisingly, however, I still rank them in my top 10 favorite games.
You have to get lucky when fighting Dullahan. When he does the attack which puts ALL your djinn in recovery mode, you just have to pray that Granite, Shade and Flash get set in time before Dullahan wipes your team. I've beaten him a couple of times, but it took me at least half an hour every time. Totally worth it.

Beating Dullahan makes the Fusion (or was it Doom?) dragon so much easier though. If your first team wipes, you just let your back-up team summon Iris, and BAM, your first team is back, baby.

Those two games were really good. Very solid RPG's for the GBA. I just wish another game would be brought out, there's clearly unresolved plot lines that need to be finished.

I mean, if alchemy has just been brought back surely that fact alone would be enough to constitute another whole game? Or is that just wishful thinking from me?

I really, really doubt that any of the higher-ups at Camelot are on the Escapist forums.

I have to pick the game back up, its been too long since I played last. Hell I still have to beat the hidden boss on the second GS.
This is how I beat Dullahan:

SETUP
1-Grind to level 48
2-Put my GS2 Party in the main team and my GS1 party in reserve
2-All GS2 Djinni on Standby, All GS2 Djinni on Set (except for 1 barrier-type djinni)
3-Deck out the main party with the best equipment (sol blade, etc), 2-3 psy crystals (on Sheba), Potions (both Piers and Sheba) and 1 water of life on each party member
4-Give the back up party the rest of your water of life

BATTLE
1-Have Felix use Odessey every turn, unless someone needs reviving
2-Have Jenna cast Cool Aura every turn unless every party member is 80% HP or higher
3-Have Sheba alternate between Spark Plasma, High Impact and psy crystals
4-Have Piers alternate between Diamond Berg, Break (whenever Dullahan buffs) and Pure Ply (whenever a party member falls below 30% HP)

5-Only use Psy Crystals on Jenna or Felix
6-When Piers and Sheba run out of PP use attack-type djinni
7-Summon Eclipse whenever you set enough djinni

DEALING WITH DJINN STORM
-By the time Dullahan uses this move on you Sheba and Piers Should have already run out of PP so your priority is keeping Felix and Jenna alive for 4 turns straight
-Use Pure Ply, Potent Cure, Mist Potions and Potions every turn until all of your Party members return to 100% HP
-Survival during this stage isn't garanteed but once you have acess to Cool Aura and Revive again you should be fine until the next Djinn Storm

IF THE MAIN PARTY FALLS
-If Dullahan wipes out your main party before using Djinn Storm you've probably lost
-If this isn't the case then you still have a strong chance of winning.

BACK UP GROUP
1st turn: Have Ivan use a barrier Djinni
Summon Charon
2nd turn: Summon Eclipse twice
Use Potions and Mist Potions
3rd turn: Keeping Mia and Isaac alive are the priorities
Don't set any more Djinni
Survive as long as possible while dealing damage

With this strategy Dullahan should be at least 80% Dead by the time you start using your back-up
Since Summons increase in damage along with the total HP of an opponent, either Charon or 2 Eclipses should be almost enough to finish Dullahan
But it is necessary to stagger summons, because Dullahan might use Guard Aura.

Hope this Strat helps people stuck on Dullahan!

Golden Sun is an amazing game and The Lost Age is, too. the best summon has to be Catastrophe.

Yeah, the Doom Dragon and most of the other bosses you HAD to face were easy. The side quest bosses were a lot harder, the Star Magician being a long drawn out battle and Dulahan being nigh on impossible to beat (but I did eventually!). Beat the doom dragon dozens of times easily before I was able to defeat dulahan.

Favorite Psynergy- Odyssey/ Meteor Plunge (i think that's what it was called)
Favorite djin to use: Geode
Favorite Summon: Apocalypse
Megiddo was the coolest weapon unleash ever!!!

Golden Sun 3 for the wii would rock. Too bad it's so unlikely to happen. D=

Mine would be Mind Read, simply because Camelot took the time to put new dialog in for EVERY character you can talk to, even animals.

I totally forgot about that psynergy! I remember reading everybody's mind just because I could. And because they were often pretty humorous too. XD

Yeah, that was an awesome touch. It really bugged me if I ever went into the menus to Mind-Read someone, only to find that they had already walked away. After one too many of theese incidents I chose to map Mind-Read to the L button.

Who knows? Maybe they finally found this thread and that's why they're releasing the game this holiday XD. I got a part time job for the first time in my life just so I can afford the DS needed to play it!

After nearly a year in a half, anyone else wanna jump in this thread and get pumped about Golden Sun: Dark Dawn? I'll post some trailers for effect.

My personal favorite is the second one as I find the English version to be very cheesy :(.
