Todd Howard and Gabe Newell. Todd because I love his TES games (and F3) and Gabe Newell because valve is the best game company around.

Hideo Kojima. I'm a complete fanboy for the ZOE series and I'm a big fan of MGS as well. Sadly, the PS3 exclusivity of the fourth version has meant that I still have yet to play it - though that might get rectified this Christmas if I stay at my brother's flat.

Blizzard. Again, complete fanboy. The 'crafts and Diablo have never steered me wrong thus far and I've enjoyed every game of theirs that I have played without exception. Considering time investment as a sole definer, I dare say WoW would rate #1 in my list of games. Literally months of my life have gone into that game and I don't regret it for a second.

Quit now though :p

Edit: TotalBiscuit, owner of wcradio.com and host of the internet radio show Blue Plz! as well.

Why do the majority of the posts in this ready disregard the "individuals, not companies" thats even in the title of the thread?
No idea.
Because there's no individual person in the game industry I feel like gushing over.

OT: I've been a fan of Sega since they first gained a foothold in North American markets. It kinda sucks being on the loosing side of a console war, buy hey, at least I didn't get suckered into a 32X or a Saturn.

Also I've generally been done right by Capcom.

Well, I'm a big Hideo Kojima fan. Besides that any game by indie developpers like Jesse Venbrux, Cactus or the guys behind Zombie Cow Studios does draw my interest.

I don't know - certainly not individuals. Valve I respect for sticking by PC gamers but you said we couldn't pick companies.

I don't think any other figure in the industry would entice me to buy games regardless of reception, except perhaps Dr. Ray Muzyka (might be an incorrect spelling), but only because he's the only Bioware guy who's name I remember.

Paul and Oliver Collyer. They created the Championship Manager (now Football Manager)series which has swallowed a disturbing amount of my life.

Peter Molyneux. Say what you want about him being a liar, if you take them for what they are, Fable 1 and 2 are better than most games.

Tim Schafer
You know. He's funny.

Todd Howard
Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3. 'Nuff said.

Oh, and whoever does the weapon design for the Ratchet and Clank games.
