I got a thread locked just yesterday, it was apparently "condoneing trolling" when really all I was asking was if people have heated debates on other websites from time to time when they feel more free to say whatever they want "smiles into the Escapist camera watching me." But ultimately I know the mod who locked it did it for the good of the community, which I really do love on this website, but I honestly did feel wronged.

I've never been probated, banned, suspended, had a thread locked, or got a negative PM from a moderator. I'd consider myself a pristine escapist.

If you have been on the forums here for a while, then odds are there are be some... Blemishes, on your profile. A thread that's been locked, a bit of moderator wrath, something that your not proud of.

I myself had a thread locked. I tried to wright a review of a website, and it ended up as an advertisement. Something else I'm a bit ashamed of; I stole someones opinion of a movie. I even copy-pasted his exact words from his website.

But enough about me, it's time to confess your interwebz sins, so to speak.

Considering if there's any 'official' political point of view around here, it's Objectivism, I find that hard to believe.

Alright here's what happened specifically. There was a thread about what would you do if you ruled the world. I said outlaw gay marrige. I got suspended for intolorance. I stated my point of view which is shared by many Americans and because he didn't agree with me I got suspended.

I'd say two things:

1) it's a point of view shared by many Americans, but I don't think you got suspended because the mod disagreed as to the number of Americans sharing that view; I think you got suspended because the mod disagreed that your view isn't intolerant, no matter how many Americans share it.

2) considering Democrats have outlawed gay marriage--Clinton signed the DOMA--it's not that you weren't a democrat; it was for, like you stated, your political views. Thing is, it's that the mod didn't like them because the mod thought they were intolerant, not just because the mod didn't like them.

I mean, I understand where you're coming from--from a descriptive point of view, gay marriage is a controversial issue. However, from the mod's point of view, the official position of The Escapist is I guess that there's no controversy about it--opposing gay marriage is intolerance, and intolerance is not permitted.

Of course, considering other posters have not only expressed support for gay marriage, they've basically trolled the forums doing so and been allowed to go on for pages, I'd say it's more that the mod exceeded the rule on not tolerating bigotry on this board.

Then here's a stance for it, no posts are allowed in favor of or against gay marrige. If you don't like one then both in order to be fair should not be allowed.
