I like to (Well, maybe not like to on occasion, but still) think of myself as a present-ist. As in, I am waaaay too busy indulging in the present, whatever I'm doing, to think about the future enough to get optimistic or pessimistic about it. Even when I think about the future, I base my hopes more on realism then anything - as in, if it's likely, I'll be optimistic, unlikely, pessimistic. (Assuming the thing is good - the other way around, I guess, if it isn't. ... You get my point.)

Hmm, not sure. I'd like to think of myself as an optimist, so surely that's optimistic?

I'm gonna' settle for a 95% optimist. I'm always looking for the positives in things, but sometimes little things make me all gloomy.

I'll be happy as larry about my finances, for example, as limited as they are; but then when I go to buy some beer, a week later I'll think:
"OH great, that's £5 I can't put towards a game"

Only briefly though, I almost immediately think:
"So? I enjoyed that beer more than I'd have enjoyed 'Hot Pursuit (2011)'. What's done is done, move on and play one of your old beloved games again. You've only owned Sniper Elite a week or so."

So yeah, put me down as an optimist. :D

I tend to be more optimistic. Means I am usually happier than a pessimist. I mean, who wants to be unhappy about everything all the time? Just seems like a recipe for an unhappy life, to me.

Also people who constantly moan just irritate me. I love a good moan but some people are just so ungrateful moaning about everything.
^Truth. Bitching can be fun and stress relieving at times, but is better in small doses. Sometimes I have to force myself to step back and just look at all the shit that I have and be grateful.

As for the optimism/pessimism question: I tend to fall on the optimism side, with a few cynical streaks; mostly I find my cynical side comes out at work. Working in customer service teaches you to respect Hanlon's Razor real damn quick--people aren't necessarily bad, they're just dumb. But in a broader sense, I usually try and find the good in things, or at least something to learn from.

Honestly? I'm a pessimist. I try to be more of a realist, but instinctively I'm pessimistic. Doesn't mean I'm not ambitious or that I never have any belief that things'll work out, but I do tend to see the negative in things.

It varies depending on things like what mood I'm in, whether or not I fell like screwing with some of my friends' minds, and what situation I'm in.

I could say pessimist, but if I were truly a pessimist, then I would've been dead already.
I'm here, still breathing, not knowing if I'm doing the right they most of the time, but I still have a linger of hope left in my life and the strenght to fight each new day, so I think I'm an optimist.

Always the optimist :D

Life is too short to spend it worry about how badly things could go wrong.

Whatever happens, happens.

It's how you deal with what happens, that matters.
and on top of that, nothing lasts forever, so it will always get better! (unless its already great, in which case enjoy it!)

I'm a cynical optimist.

I tend to expect the worse in every situation, but I'm generally positive.
