Are you able to identify other escapist users?

And if so, how, and to what extent? I usually identify others by their icons (especially the animated ones), and I'm actually getting pretty good at determining how I think some of them feel about certain threads, before seeing what they say. What about you guys?

I always identify others by their icons, though I imagine if anyone identified me (no) it would be by my constant near derailment of friends with my contrary unpopular opinions. I don't really interact with anyone on a personal enough level to really know them though.

Some I can by name, others I can by their avatar (if they don't change it frequently). Those I can identify (to any varying degree) is fairly minimal though.

It's not that difficult to identify one or two members in the R&P section, yeah.

I recognize maybe 60% of the Escapist community. Most by avatar, some by post count or title, others by usernames, and a select few by how they post.

I recognize a few people by username but they are my friends so it'd be bad if I didn't recognize them by username. I know quite a bit of users that I don't talk to by their avatar but I do try and remember people's username but there are too many people on here to remember everyone :/

Avatars and usernames I try to master. Avatars are easiest but some people change them all the time. A unique username usually cements you in my mind too.

I normally go by the picture, and I try to remember the username if I see them all the time.

I think I've been here long enough to remember quite a few of them by now.

Due to my job, I can go long stretches without going on the Escapist forums. So, just when I start learning who's who in the zoo, I leave and don't come back for 3-4 months. Rinse and repeat.

So short answer, I can identify some of the Escapists by their avatars but rarely by their names.

I recognize most users by avatar, some by user name, and a few by the typical content of their posts (usually R&P section posts).

I don't think much of the community recognizes me though : \.

I recognize unique avatars (i.e. - not MLP because I don't know those apart, so they all kind of look the same to me, just maybe differently colored) and unique titles. And, I can often recognize a person here by the content of their post, favorite words/phrases, or their writing/spacing/quoting style.

I can actually recognize the latter more easily than avatars, names or titles.

As for guessing what someone's going to say.. sometimes, some posters.

I usually identify with animated avatars or something that catches my eye, and if I see it enough, I'll begin to actually identify them by their handle. I'm not famous by any stretch of the imagination and haven't even really been singled out for verbal combat, yet

(Although, someone did start 'challenging' me to a topic I wasn't even referring to and we actually had similar ideas but they still kept trying to incite me. :| )

I identify quite a lot of people, some by avatar, some by username others by both but I wouldn't say I can identify everyone but quite a lot.

There are plenty of regulars that I recognise.

I always try to remember people by their usernames, and not just by their avatars.
Often when someone changes their avatar, I have to re-learn who that person is! (particularly if they've had their old avatar for a while).

Not sure if anyone recognises me though . . .
Don't worry Mr. Topaz I identify you.

I usually identify people using their avatar but if I've seen them often enough I'll remember their username. I'm better with pictures.

I can recognize some users, though I'm not able to say from where besides a rare few. Ones that use more generic avatars (such as popular video game characters) are a bit harder to recognize. And I don't recognize pretty much anyone without an avatar. Badges help as well in identifying who's who. But to be honest, I don't really recognize most by their name and I doubt most recognize me. Oh well. *shrug*
