Same here, I didn't sleep for 2 days after watching that...

Nope, but for the longest time I was.

It wasn't even rational fear, it was just that kind of "what if" fear that you get as a little kid, it just didn't go away for me until I was about twelve.

I'm usually perfectly fine in the dark, unless I've just been watching something on TV like Most Haunted or a horror film. Then the fear is perfectly natural.

Although I had a nasty shock in the dark last week, when I was in bed late at night. My cat had previously scratched at the door to get into my room, so she was on my bed curled up while I tried to get to sleep. About five minutes later she woke me up by licking my nose...

I'm only scared of the dark if it's somewhere I've never been before and I literally cant see a thing, or its an alleyway. Y'know, the usual.

The darkness is only as scary as you want to make it. I must admit though, I have a bit of a creative mind, so I'll always stay sharp for that killer platipus lurking in some corner that sticks candy in my nostrils when I don't pay attention.

I believe the fear of the dark is not related to the dark in it self but what could be lurking there.
So basically, fear of the dark is just a short for fear of the unknown.

Now back on the question, I have less fear now than when I was younger, that's for sure. I still have a little bit of fear though. Silly but better be safe than sorry.
But then again, I simply imagine on happy things like unicorns riding a rainbow on a flower field and everything ends fine.

No problem with dark and if you think something is near you in the dark always remember that it can't see you

Im okay with the dark, as long as its for only short periods of time. Like 3 seconds. Then I start to imagine theres someone lurking there... So I freak out and run to the nearest source of light...

i'm not afraid of the dark. i love it. i can navigate around my house without my eyes so there's nothing for me to fear. now the only time i dislike the dark is when i have a perticullarly bad nightmare and then ecerything seems to bend and become unfamiliar in the half light of the moon.

p.s. when i saw this forum i tought it was talking about the old television show.

I don't mind the dark when I'm outside - it's when I'm inside and alone (like now, for example) that I start to freak out at every little noise. And reflective surfaces.
I had a hyperactive imagination as a child. Whilst years of real life have dulled it, it still finds new things to populate the darkness with. Or just steals things from various fictional sources. Whoever introduced me to the slender man is solely responsible for my lack of sleep last night.
Outside is fine - for some reason, actually dangerous things like muggers worry me less than non-dangerous things like my imagination.

I'm not afraid of the dark. Or at least, too afraid anymore. There's still that sense of the unknown that lies within the darkness, but the real fear is seeing a familiar and comfortable setting turn into something that I don't recognize. Sure, it's the same living room that I was in an hour ago, but now it looks like a weird cave, or lair, or something I really don't want to be in.

Don't remind me! >.<

Seriously, I have an awesome ability to pretend I am something, so I just pretend I am so totally not scared, and i'm not, Yay for fake confidence. (Also works in school/job interviews)

The Iron maiden references have already been made, oh well, shouldn't had expected any different.

I don't think 'Fear' is the term I would use to describe me relation with the dark, I usually like it better, and can still see fine at relatively low light, compared to pretty much everyone I know. But I do get somewhat paranoid of bushes and sudden noises, not much of corners, but I'm getting more and more used to ignore that paranoia, since in blatant daylight it can still some times get me paranoid.

I'm fine in the dark, although I'll get paranoid a bit.

Also kills my eyes looking at the monitor.

No: I am however afraid of the faceless horrors lurking therein and so should you!

I like darkness and really can't sleep unless it's really, REALLY dark
