I consider myself as American. This is mainly because I really can't claim any of the states I've lived in any more. :p

That is just plain shameful TeeBs.
I don't fight for my country, I fight for the country I would fight for.
Then seek that flag.

Well I'm from the Britain, born in the South of England and I think of myself as British... but more often claim to be Scottish. I'm half Scottish almost half english and a wee bit irish but I just think I'm scottish. When people ask me why I say it's because I can't help but hate the english but it's also partly because I can't help but support the losing team in any sports fixture.

So in your opinion, I shouldn't have a problem with my country. If there is something I don't agree with I should move instead of you know trying to change it like living in a established democracy allows me to do.

So you can quote somebody, actually defend your post.

I'm a fat, NASCAR-watchin', KFC eatin', Toby Keith listenin', Rumsfeld worshippin' American.

[DISCLAIMER] I am a 5'11", 155lb boy who doesn't eat junk food, hates country music, and likes Obama.

Can we be friends, world?

I'm from Australia but I also refer to myself as a Queenslander. Nothing wrong about being proud of the state your from.

Allow me to clarify a post that was far too brief. If you are ashamed of certain problems your country has then fine. But please don't lie to other people and say you are from a different country just because they will give you a dirty look for it. If they are ignorant and stupid enough to assume that every bad thing your country has ever done is your fault then fuck them. Go ahead and try to help fix Americas problems, but please do not be afraid to tell others where you are from because that means you think it is beyond saving.

I'm an American. I live in Wisconsin, but all that truly means is that I live in a department of the nation of the United States that at one time or another, a couple wealthy white men decided to demarcate a large chunk of land along certain boundaries and name that chunk of land "Wisconsin".

However, I know some of my American counterparts inhabiting the American 'South' would have a different opinion on this question...Particularly (cough!) Texas.
You called?
And.......Do you classify yourself an American or an inhabitant of the state you reside in?

I'm a Californian.
This means that I'm also an American.

So if you ask me what my nationality is, I'll say I'm an American...since that is the nation I belong to--California is not a nation.
However, if you ask me where I'm from, I'll say I'm from California.

California and Texas and Hawaii are the three states that were once their own countries. I think we often still carry that with us.

Anyway, I'm a Californian.

I would say that I am an American though that does not mean that I can't take pride in my state.

I don't actually say I'm canadian. I meant it humorously. I probably should have stated that it was a joke in the original post, I thought your were just saying I can't have a problem with my country.

I'm American. Pennsylvanian-American!

XD No, joking. I just say I'm American unless someone asks me my lineage or I'm filling out a form. or if someone remarks about something to me.

I'm American with an Irish heritage. I don't call myself Irish because I don't live in Ireland.

Well that's not quite the same thing since, unless I'm mistaken, The Netherlands is a country and Europe is a continent. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I see myself as an Ontaritonian (one from the province of Ontario) rather than as a Canadian. Our country is so large that Canadians from different areas are truly different, rather than only slightly.

Slightly different kettle of fish for me as I'm Australian and we're not that big a country, so I just call myself Australian.
Though that's true, New South wales has 3 times the population of old Wales (and something like 40 times the landmass), and the Welsh are seen as being a distinct entity.
Um, not really sure where your thinking is going there, I'm Australian, not Welsh, I never even mentioned Wales, and given that you didn't quote the part about me being in N.S.W. despite the fact I'm from Western Australia just makes it all the more confusing. Care to elaborate?

I am a Saskatchewan boy through and through. However, I do see myself as a proud Canadian too.

True. I'm sure that if we had a political discussion we'd both be banned because of our different worlds. Did you guys know that out in the West people tend to blame the East for everything? I don't but my friends from time to time do.
