Really, can someone go into depth about WHY Activsion?
I did some quick Google searches and it seems to be related to them raising the prices of Call of Duty 2 and thier recent, totally unfounted attempt to sue Double Fine, is this just it?
I mean that IS dickish and the former is a certainly a good reason to not buy thier games on launch, i'm certainly not paying 10 quid extra for any of their properties thank you.
Or has there been recent developments or is it just a general dislike of them because they keep doing stuff that irks fans - canning Tony Hawks and Guitar Hero, publishing mediocre entries in franchises like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot etc?

I never really thought of it as boycotting before, but yeah I guess I kind of am. I refused to buy StarCraft 2, and one of the reasons was because Activision was behind it. (Another reason is that I also happen to hate Blizzard, and yet another reason is because I refuse to dole-out $60 for what is essentially a minor graphical upgrade to a game I used to play a long time ago)

I don't agree personally with Activision, they killed two great series. Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk. Why? Because they decide to cash-cow all our beloved games by releasing new unfinished titles and expansions every 6-12 months.

I'm glad that Blizzard is telling Activision to take a hike and stay out of their business, I don't want to see an expansion for Starcraft 2 coming out every single year to kill the franchise.
What's this about the 3 different SC2 games that will exist?

Yeah, do not want!

OT: I'll buy a game by them if I want it. Shrug.

I do not mean that Blizzard is releasing expansions for Starcraft2 is a bad thing, hell I cant wait. But what I mean by what I said was that Activision would force a company to put out an expansion at a really bad timeline, they would release an unfinished product over perfecting it just so they can cash in quickly with little money invested.

Its greedy.

I read a few times about how people are boycotting activision and I wanted to start a survey of the escapist to see how many escapist members are doing that.
Why? Because they're evil, or because their games aren't interesting?

I'm mostly against specific practices of the company. For instance, I'm not about to buy another Call of Duty game and encourage them to keep sequel-whoring. Conversely, I DID buy Starcraft 2, to show my support for a sequel that was well-developed over time.

Some people's definition of evil is a bit looser than others. To me, this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vscG3k91s58] school of thought is evil. Not the way genocide is evil, but a very insidious lesser form of evil.

Nah. They really haven't done anything that seriously pissed me off yet. Probably because I don't buy much from them.

Only company I boycotted was Ubisoft. And that was because of their insanely stupid and anti-consumer DRM(always online). Seems they're getting rid of it though, which makes me happy. But I'm going to wait and see. I thought they were removing it when they patched it out of AC2, but it turns out they didn't really patch it out, it still needs to connect to the internet to start. Wish I knew that before I went out and bought and beat Brotherhood.

They may be doing the same with Brotherhood, so I'll adopt the "wait and see" approach.

Hopefully they'll remove it all, but until then I'm still boycotting them.

I'm not boycotting Activision, that would be just silly. You better believe I don't buy own any COD game past COD4 though.

Does it count as boycotting if I am not buying their products on account of those products mostly being shit?

Y'know, as opposed to more ideological reasons.

No. The CEO is a dick, but they publish games I enjoy.

Its not like i'm going to let one man stop me from buying the hard work of the people that actually made the game now is it?

Activision, DLC, DRM but accepting Steam, Xbox, Sony, Console ports, MMOs that mimic WoW, developers and publishers who declare war on piracy, Disney.

Its rather easy, considering that most of them suck.
