I read a few times about how people are boycotting activision and I wanted to start a survey of the escapist to see how many escapist members are doing that.

Edit: not another broken poll, the escapist really needs to fix this issue.
Nope. I have no reason to boycott them.

I'm not boycotting Activision but I'm not buying some of their games like COD which is the same shit every year for a new price, I drew the line at MW1. If they publish a good game, then I buy it but so far I haven't found a game from Activision that I like.

If a game looks good to me I will buy it, regardless of who published it or whatever.

Unlike some people who wont buy a game 'cos a certain group made it or rush to buy a game 'cos a certain group made it (dragon age 2 anybody? I have read so many "I trust it will be a good game 'cos bioware made it), talk about close minded.

I don't understand why I'd want to boycott them. Even if their apparently evil. I don't get into the politics of games anymore. I prefer to play them and let better men and women argue over that so if they've done something that is outright evil to the community then I'll let you guys and gals discuss it.

I don't often by games based on who makes them neither. I buy games depending on how good they looked who makes them matters very little to me.

I am... Or, at least, trying to. Every once in a blue moon I'll be enjoying a game and only realize later that Activision was the ruler of it. Then I'm all, "Dammit!"

This is usually movie games, which I rent first. So no harm, no foul.

Not really no but I have refused to pick up Black Ops on grounds that I am tired of CoD.

Really, can someone go into depth about WHY Activsion?
I did some quick Google searches and it seems to be related to them raising the prices of Call of Duty 2 and thier recent, totally unfounted attempt to sue Double Fine, is this just it?
I mean that IS dickish and the former is a certainly a good reason to not buy thier games on launch, i'm certainly not paying 10 quid extra for any of their properties thank you.
Or has there been recent developments or is it just a general dislike of them because they keep doing stuff that irks fans - canning Tony Hawks and Guitar Hero, publishing mediocre entries in franchises like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot etc?

I've been boycotting Activision for a while.

I, personally, will not buy any game developed or published by Activision. I do not like their execution of their business, and I do not like their CEO. They need to clean up their act before I can consider purchasing one of their products. This may cause me to miss out on some good games, but that's my loss.

However, I understand that some people don't care. They want to enjoy their Call of Duty's, and that's perfectly fine. I truly wish no ill towards anyone who plays Activision. Enjoy their games, I know I won't, and I say that in the most sincere way I can.

I'm not protesting Activision, they just almost never publish something I want to play.

Boycotts are silly, in my opinion. If a good game comes out, reward the quality of the game and support like quality games. If it sucks, dont buy it.

Boycotting just means you hold a long grudge and dont allow for innovation or change.

I suspect most people in this thread are boycotting Activision the same way all of these people boycotted MW2

Er... why should i be boycotting them? If i remember right the only games i was looking forward to this year came from People Can Fly, BioWare, Team Ico, and Sucker Punch. Square Enix was planning to publish a few Eidos titles and them fucking up Thief and Hitman would be cause for boycott, but Activision canceling Guitar Hero? Fuck-a-doodle-doo. They already had a music creation system, what more could they do with the fucking franchise that DLC and Rock Band can't cover?

I don't really do the whole boycott thing, I refuse to buy games with DRM if that counts I guess. Activision has been good with their DRM unlike ubisoft. Wow a free game with my video card! Well let me install it and configure my parts and ...out of installs?!?! What the hell!?

Eh, I'll buy games that are worth the price.
For instance, MW2 is still supposedly AU$88 (our dollar is almost 1:1 to the US dollar)... which is what I call bullshit.

So it's not as much boycotting as refusing to be assraped.

I buy games that i want, as that's why i buy them. Denying yourself a good game because of the publisher is really silly, especially as one person dones't make a difference, besides if you buy games you like it is an encouragement for similar games to be made (and unfortunately too many sequels). The only thing you can do is buy the games you want. I'm hoping that Vampire: The Masquerade ? Bloodlines goes on sale as it looks good (an activision game). Although that aside I'm not interested in their existing or future games well except for cod4 and doom, which i already have.

Technically yeah but that's only because they never release anything i'm interested in!

Diablo 3 is a different matter though!
