Are you boycotting any companies?

Unofficially? Ubisoft.

I want to play their games, but the DRM puts me off.

Likewise I don't play Blizzard games either.

Limited activations I am very wary off, especially since I know I need to upgrade my computers soon...

None. Yes, there are scummy companies, but my boycotting them isn't going to hurt them. I don't play CoD because it doesn't interest me, not because I'm loath to give Activision money.

I won't shop at Wallmart or Futureshop. Futureshop because they are over priced and took advantage of me when I needed my laptop fixed. They held my laptop for months till my warranty expired and just gave it back to me without fixing it.

I won't shop at Wallmart for a ton of different reasons but simplified it is because of all the damage they do to the economy and how many jobs they make obsolete. They put out all kinds of businesses by undercutting prices low enough that they competition cannot stay afloat to match putting people out of work and those same people complaining of there not being enough work go and shop there so face palm.

I won't spend another penny on XBox Live. My account was hacked for £150 which Microsoft wouldn't refund, nor would my credit card company help. As such I cancelled my Gold account (though for some reason they gave me 18 months of codes so I'm technically still active), removed any and every form of payment from my account and won't use it ever again. Two friends and a relative all followed suit when I told them too. My boycott only goes as far as XBL.

Also, I won't buy any Origin only games because, quite frankly, I don't wish to use the service. No Steam, no sale.

I had problems with them as well they would sign me on for gold and not refund my money even on the day of. So I managed to find out how to unsubscribe and they did the same damn thing again the very next year I had to argue through 3 people just get get a refund on the stupid service. I am never making that mistake again no matter how good the deal is.

Well, sort of EA. Just because they have nothing really worth it, though. On the other hand, I bought Spore last month - I don't know if that counts. Same with Activision but even more so, since they don't have a Spore equivalent. There is Bloodlines, however, even though I have it, I was almost tempted to buy it on Steam when it was cheaper than chips. Then I realised I'll be giving Activision money, rather than Troika, so I decided against it.

Other than those, there is Apple - I generally refuse to use anything from them, because the software is a bit shitty and the hardware is overpriced. Maybe if I didn't have to sell my kidneys to buy a product of theirs, I might be inclined to do so, though.

And Games for Windows Live. I've heard enough bad things about it. It's presence actually turned me off from a couple of games I might have bought otherwise.

I don't properly boycott any companies, however I will do something like pay more for a product where I could get something similar. That comes down to preference for the product though, rather than action against the company that makes it.

I just am always hesitant when looking at EA products, as of late. Otherwise, no. Boycotting only works with large amounts of people.

If I rent a game and like it, I'll buy it, I don't care what company it's from unless they actively hinder my enjoyment like with DRM.

Since consoles don't have DRM, I don't really share the hatred my PC brethren have for it.

Frankly I'm in such a bad mood that I just don't want to see any games with the words "Bioware" or "EA" on the box.

I am currently boycotting GAME for the simple fact that they overcharged me for a game. I wasn't going to argue over a couple of quid, but it just means that I'll never use them again, I buy from everyone else but them.

Also refusing to talk to Lloyds bank, for the fact they are charging me £5 (to go up to £6) should I dare to go into my overdraft. It takes the piss just a little bit as they had a tax payer bailout a couple of years ago so it kinda feels like I'm paying for this banks survival twice.

I avoid Ubisoft partly because of their DRM and partly because.. well.. I just don't want their games in the first place. I don't think they've made a game I had any interest in in.... years.

I never go to McDonald's, but that's mainly because I hate their stuff.

Could I say I'm boycotting record labels... well, no not really, not interested in buying new music.

Hmm, who has a product I'm actually interested in but won't buy because of the company... um, Starbucks, I guess. No, wait, I don't buy there because it's just too expensive. If it were cheaper I might!

Sorry, guess I got nothin. I don't so much boycott as vote with my wallet.

Also @OP: Loli Rin is best Rin!

I don't boycott companies as a whole, usually tend to judge anything that I'm considering on it's own merit.

Things like always on DRM, or activation limits, get discarded. Things that appear to be "GenericClone#8746" also.

Other side of the coin, I tend to buy a lot of games from small independant developers that I'll never play just to support somebody trying new ideas, or if I do sometimes you find a real gem.

Simply put, McDonald's.

Partly because their food is terrible, but mostly because I used to work at a McDonald's, and it's EASILY the worst job I've ever had.

Frankly, the state of the kitchen in your average McDonald's is disgusting. I worked on the grill, and there were times where I've actually seen cockroaches crawling on it, and my superior just told me to scrap them off, and keep using the grill. Without cleaning it.

And I've got a story from there involving a dildo that's both hilarious and disturbing. Plus I've heard stories about people having sex on the condiment cart.

So, yeah, no more McDonald's for me. Also, by extension, I don't do Burger King, since they're basically the same thing.

Sony and Apple are my main boycott targets. I personally had a bad experience with Apple and have since realised they rely on their customers not knowing anything about hardware, and Sony because they constantly sue people who use their products, lie to customers (the xperia x10 was incredibly poorly handled), have little to no regard for protection customers personal information etc.

I will not buy any game that has draconian DRM. The one exception to this was assassins creed 2, which I bought on PS3 well before the PC release. I was disgusted when I learned what they had done to the PC release and traded it in not long after, but I still bought it initially :(

I don't have much to say on the matter but EA and all the developers under its banner, also Ubisoft, and Activision-Blizzard. Fortunatly there are plenty of games not made by any of them, are free, and are more enjoyable.
