I game but I don't start conversations about it. I try to steer clear of that but I will talk about it if someone else wants to.

I don't really care, I play for fun like many many people do. I'm not embarrassed until I stop keeping up with current events then get lost all over the place and get myself obese enough to have difficulty climbing up a fight of stairs... then thats bad.

I'm not embarrassed though I won't talk about how big a gaming geek I am on a daily basis, mostly because I don't think people give 2 *Appropriate Language here I promise!*

As far as what would I have done with the time that I was using to play a game? Depends on what you qualify as important, if gaming is preventing you from doing something you wanted to really do, then the problem was the fact that you're a gamer but the fact that you won't give time to yourself to do it.

What it comes down to is what do you really want? Personally I'm happy just fraging a few noobs. Don't live by someone else's standards... You'll always be one step below their high horse. There is no reason not to be happy just because someone else's way of gaining happiness is different from yours.

Im not ashamed of playing games. Sure it helped destroy my social life but thats a good thing in my opinion. Where I live if you're not gaming then the only things to do are; commit crimes, get stds, or do absolutely nothing, or kill yourself. I only know like nind clean, good girls who are up to my standards and they all moved. :(

I used to feel embarrassed at being a gamer.
Then I realized that I was literally better than everyone around me, not that that's exactly an accomplishment, considering where I live.
But whatever. I enjoy my habit. I like my friends, but most of my interesting ones live in different states. So I'd rather play games.
I so totally agree!
I wonder whether I should break it to a girl and i reveal it as they reveal their inner geek

Embarassed? naw. I tend to like to play video games, and I'm not embarassed to let people know.

It's kinda funny when I tell people i actually quit playing WoW

Nope. There are two types of people in this world: those who like me, and those who can go to Hell. If you don't understand, you're probably an asshole.

I do however feel embarrassed when I try to bring up one of my precious 90's cRPG's when talking to my console whore friends.

Well i don't really see it as a problem if you have a social life at the same time, sure it's ok to play games regularly but non-stop gaming would make me feel embarassed. I can think of alot worse things you could be doing with your time.

Be embarassed that I play video games? No.

Be embarassed that I play certain* video games? Yes.

*Games like Feel the Magic, Nintendogs, and the sex minigame in God of War.

If people should feel embarassed for playing games, they should also feel embarassed for watching TV/movies, reading books, or any other sedentary pastime.

I'm proud to be a gamer, and to be honest I think it keeps me intellectually primed during the off seasons for school. Truth be told that is what's on my mind about 80% of the time, but it gives me a great sense of humor, and people love me for it.

The only time I do feel embarassed is when I find myself jamming out to the rockband set up in best buy.

No, I'm not embarrassed in the slightest.

I'm going to college to design video-games, and if anybody asks what I plan on doing after college that's exactly what I tell them.

I wear shirts that have game related jokes on them.

I read gaming magazines in public places (Bus, coffee shop, place with a bench, etc.)

I play my Gameboy in public.

My friends an I have arguments in public places over video-games and why certain ones are better than others.

I'll tell any girl that I'm a gamer. If she doesn't like the fact that I play games then whatever. I probably don't like the fact that she probably rambles on about how intuitive and mischievous her cat is. Woo-hoo.

I have a great social life, and I do many things other than game. But gaming is what I like to do when I'm not hanging out with my friends/family, working, or studying.

If you like doing it don't be ashamed of it. Unless you're a necrophiliac. That shit is weird.

The only one I really hide is WoW... Instead I say things like "I like RPGs" or "Yeah, there's this MMO I play." Yeah, I'm totally coy like that.

Until people start talking about fighting games near me, at which point I froth at the mouth >_>
