I'm stuck in the debate to either buy Black Ops or just skip it and spend my money else where.

My main reason of having an urge to buy it is mainly due to the promise that it's really fun and worth playing online with friends.

On the other hand, I'm quite sick of COD I had my final dose on MW2 and was happy to move on from there. I already played the story thanks to a generous friend and my final opinion of the game play through the story is "Meh, It's alright". I have my sights fixed more one Mass Effect 2 or Demon Souls or Killzone 3 or perhaps even God of War 3.

So simply put. Are you enjoying it ? Would you reccomend it ? or would I be dissapointed by the multiplayer and feel like my money was wasted ?

Holy Christ! A BlackOps thread!? ;)

Yes, I'm enjoying it. Yes, it's a good game. Some details are even quite brilliant. But:
1) regarding the campaign, truth is spoken here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/8317-Review-Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops.2]
2) Am I enjoying it (both SP & MP) more than the - in my book - objectively worse Bad Company 2? No.

Right now its very "meh". Then again I haven't tried it with friends yet. But so far I'm unimpressed. And I doubt it gets better, so unless you have friends to play it with, I say skip it.

Yes. Enjoying it immensely.

But, if I were to replay some singleplayer campaign right now, it would've been Modern Warfare 2. Which is probably exactly what I'm going to do.

The multiplayer's a lot of fun, though. Maybe that's because I'm above average and get pretty good scores. But, is it more fun with online friends? Uh, maybe. If you're into teamwork or play with Irish guys who swear a lot.

i think its ok.... i really enjoyed it the first time i played it but it just got boring for me after that. i rather playing modern warfare (the first one) because people who want to enjoy playing it, play it. if that makes sense. i hope you spend your money wisely :)

Much better than MW 2, but then a game about a disabled cat on a unicycle would beat that piece of crap.

Plus where I live there were too small earthquakes (3.6 on the scale) and I genuinely didn't notice them because I was playing the black ops campaign.

I am enjoying it, but then again with a Wii (yes yes, boo hiss and all that crap), I don't get many CoD games that I would actually play (fuck motion controls) so...

Yes, I enjoyed it. I haven't played the multiplayer, but I assume it's pretty much the same as every other multiplayer shooter. The campaign was good fun, which gave me many a schoolnight of joy.

I'd ignore that review linked. The Escapist's review of it was overly harsh.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The singleplayer campaign is well-done with an extremely satisfying ending and it is also quite challenging at times and has some pretty epic moments. The multiplayer is amazing, in my opinion, and much better than Modern Warfare 2. The weapons feel more balanced and varied and the CoD Points system works well along with the added customisation. If you don't like online and prefer playing with bots and/or a couple friends then Combat Training is an absolute godsend and it is by far my favourite aspect. In a local game all the weapons, perks, equipment etc is already unlocked which is great for just jumping straight into things, but it's also annoying if, like me and my friends (one of whom does not own an Xbox) you like the sense of progression. It's also annoying if you don't have XBL and you still want that sense of progression. It's a tad bittersweet. Zombies is also good. I find that WaW's Nazi Zombies was a bit better than this iteration of it, but it's challenging enough to keep you coming back and is good fun. The characters also provide some giggles.

My main gripe with it has to be the fact that some promises weren't fulfilled. They promised more customisation when, in fact, MW2 had more customisation for game modes. I was expecting something on par with Halo Custom Games. Also, they said Combat Training would be an alternate way of progression; not an alternate system of progression. The first implies that all progress in Combat Training is carried to online and vice versa, while the latter implies the opposite. Unfortunately the latter is the system in place. Also, you can't edit Clan Tags or Emblems in Combat Training, which is a complete and utter burn to people who don't want to play online as you can only do this in online gameplay and even at that it's unlocked at level 10.

If you have friends to play it with then definately buy it.

Loved it. Second favorite CoD.

First is World At War.

Still think the new killstreak rewards are broken as fuck though.

eh, the MP is the same as always so if you like that then i guess the few upgrades would be enough for you to buy it, personally i have gotten sick of it after this many games.

as for me, i have always found the single player campaign in these games to be enjoyable in the same way that in the middle of oscar candidates once in awhile all i wanna see is a mismatched buddy cop or monster flick, i bought it used from a associate of mine, and have already sold it again, the campaign is not very good, it has its moments but unless you can buy it on the cheap like i did (about 1/4th of retail) i would say its a pass.

Yeah. It's less of a clusterfuck than MW2 and it's easier to do consistently well. It is a bit dull compared to the IW games though, both graphically and in the level of excitement it offers.

(of course, all of this is when the servers actually work and you don't get raped by lag)

They're more balanced than Modern Warfare 2's. Well, except Chopper Gunner on Nuketown and RCXD. Attack Dogs are great fun though!

I would not judge by that review to be honest. Read the comments and how many people disagreed.

It's a decent game, I've gotten lots of fun out of the multiplayer and very very little fun out of the appalling campaign. But would I recommend it? No, not really. Money is better spent elsewhere.
