I personally am on the fence about it. I know a lot of people are growing tired of the series due to yearly releases. Also people say it is basically the same game with some new maps and guns each year. However, I think if you compare it to yearly sports games the CoD series seems to at least innovate more than that.

Another reason is that it is a major time sink for me. They are games that you can potentially devote 100s of hours to. The games can be rather addictive. Addiction is not always the sign of a great game, and I think I might be better off playing a slew of single player games instead of so much CoD. If I do get it I am going to try to limit how much I play the best I can.

Yeah, I'll be getting it. Maybe not right on release but sometime down the road.

Getting? Yes. Buying? No.

It isn't completely because I'm a cheap bastard, but I might just permenantly borrow it from a friend one day.

I'm not going to praise Blops 2 for innovating Call of Duty in many more ways than before, since this sort of thing is supposed to have been done years ago.

Bear with me as I am writing my points as they come into my head:

Firstly, I assume you have played the previous CoD games. What I fail to understand is the fact that you said that you could devote 100s of hours to one game. That might seem fair to a game like Skyrim or Grand Theft Auto where you have loads of things to do but to a CoD game where you run like a chicken in a small pen ? I think not. I also presume that you played the other CoD multiplayers and if you invested 100s of hours into those as well aren't you getting bored of the same grind ? I mean a new weapon and map isn't exactly innovation since 85% of the game is the same. There's no sense of satisfaction to be had repeating the same meaningless task for hours on end.

Secondly, I'm not getting it because of Black Ops and MW3. Those two games were a piece of crap. BO was just a cold war gun wank fantasy whereas MW3 was bought to you by Michael Bay. Now I'm not going to go into detail as to why the games were crap since I don't want to waste my time, but for me I hardly noticed any difference between the multiplayers. To me the only difference between Modern Warfare multiplayer and the ones that followed was slightly better graphics and some new guns and maps. That's it. Frankly I got my fill of OMGUFUCKINGSUKZZNOBZOR in MW so I don't see a point in buying BO2.

Thirdly, I think that the developers realised that this area of Modern Combat has gone stale now, what with 3 CoD games around the same period of time and are now going to change the scenery to a more Halo style thing. Just watch them milk this one out.

I might pick it up the same way I got the first Black Ops, wait years and then find it for £5 and have a impulse buy... Then again I do that for all games these day's. X3

I dunno. I got tired of the formula around MW2 and haven't really bought one since. I do enjoy a nice zombie session though so if enough of my friends get it, I might join in, but I am not sure. meh

Yeah, many of those reasons have had me considering not getting it. The 100s of hours came from the mindless, but addictive leveling system. There is also a great deal of customization of your classes as well as many more guns than most FPS with customizable attachments. But, yea it does get boring after doing the same thing in 5 games now. It was quite a good innovation with Call of Duty 4, but now they are just repeating the same thing.

The only reason I play the games was due to the multiplayer. The single player campaigns really haven't impressed me. Hell, I haven't even bothered playing the MW3 campaign.

Judging by OMGUFUCKINGSUKZZNOBZOR you are referring to the terrible community. The people whom I've encountered on the game are some of the biggest scum I've ever associated with. The amount of trash talking and constant insults for using supposedly cheap tactics gets really annoying after awhile. I can really only play with friends and mute everyone else. I play the game for fun, not to argue with some trash talking idiots halfway across the world.

So, yeah it is getting pretty stale by now and why I am considering not getting it. The only fun I see would be playing with friends. But, I believe they are growing tired of it as well.

I won't but if I want call of duty I generally just pop in my MW2 and it works just fine for me.

Maybe I'll get it somewhere down the line but I certainly won't be getting it on launch. I don't trust the game to not be broken or just stupidly unbalanced in some way anymore after Black Ops and MW3. I'd rather wait and see.

I will not be purchasing it, however my parents assume I enjoy such games and will buy me it anyway.

I've been gaming a long time and a lot of the games you people talk about in here; I have no interest in. However, I have ordered it on Steam for release. I don't even care for the SP one bit, the MP is so-so... why this is a must-buy for me is zombies.

I've spent hundreds of hours playing BLOPs Zombies; and Treyarch is bringing Zombies back in this game- bigger and better than ever.

Someone asked why'd you want to spend all that time in a game that wasn't skyrim or GTA; like he couldn't comprehend it. For me it's the opposite. You would routinely get games like C&C, Warcraft/Starcraft, Quake, Heroes of Might and Magic, Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries and spend YEARS playing them until you wore out the disc.

The idea that today games are just disposable content patches, to be consumed, see the sights, see the cutscenes, and buy the next installment; to me it's awful. It's like even traditional games are becoming like WoW expansions; and the gamers are like cattle, grazing on content until it's gone, until the fields are bare and it's time to graze on a new pasture.

It's akin to how I will still throw on the movie Office Space about once a year; but if I see any of the Marvel movies once- the urge to watch them again never comes.

There's just something inherently cheap about most media these days; all types.

That said, Treyarch's Zombies game has soul and if you can't see it you're either blind or not old enough to know better.

Eh probably not. I enjoyed the first Blops as it was the only COD I was good at. But I don't think I could justify playing full price for a game I probably won't play too much.

I'm getting it day 1. People have their own opinions on the games and that's whatever, but for me being in a clan I've got friends on XBL all over the world, and that's how we get together and hang out is playing matches. Because of that I usually don't have to deal with randoms as much on my team and we end up having a great time.
As far as zombies..Meh..Not my favorite mode but it's fun now and then, what I'm looking forward to with this one is honestly the campain. I like the new (for CoD) ideas they're bringing to it with the different mission approaches, so everything I've seen about all the modes points to me enjoying it but I can see why others might not *shrugs* different strokes and stuff

Possibly the flimsiest excuse for an annualised shooter I think I've seen!

OT: I doubt it. Too expensive and too many other games coming out I know I'll get more out of.

Probably not, but I'm still open to the possibility in the future. While the futuristic setting is slightly interesting, I have my doubts that it will change the core gameplay very much to any great degree. And that's fine, because clearly a lot of people like the core gameplay, but it's just not for me. The multiplayer is fun and all, but I just get burnt out on it so quickly, compared to other multiplayer games.

Fuck Yes!
That is all...
But for fear of low content...
I think CoD got a few more years yet and, christ, at least it gets more than a graphical update and maybe one new gestur like the yearly FIFA's...

I will be purchasing it Day 1 and your reason is pretty much mine. It was the opposite until Black Ops 1 came out...

I like all of the Call of Duty games and have bought every one of them on Day 1 since Modern Warfare (as well as a subscription to CoD: Elite. MW3 to me took one step forward (support classes) and took two steps backwards by removing the stuff Treyarc did (buying weapons and customer emblems). I'm hoping that Treyarc is more willing to keep the good that MW3 introduced while re-introducing the stuff that they added to the series.
