I enjoyed his N64 shenanigans so I may get it depending on offical reviews but more on user reviews (the raging mad ones are good to show the bad bits while the infinite praising ones point out the best bits).

I was waiting for a sequel to DN3D for 14 years. You better believe I'm going to buy it. Even if it's just a pile of garbage with the Duke on it, I'm NOT going to waste those 14 years of my life.

Almost every game can be considered generic if want to insult it enough, and the FPS genre doesn't have a spectacularly large amount of "generic" games, it's just that they get more publicity than other genres.
And most of these "generic" games play rather differently, they just look a tad similar in screenshots, and again, that can be said about lots of games. Racing games, for example. Or sports games. Maybe even RPGs.

It still has the one-liners, the interactivity with the objects around you (I.E, you can take a piss when your at a urinal) and most importantly it still has the Duke and the Duke's ego the size of mount everest.
Besides the original games kick ass. So like hell am I gonna miss this one. OK, the first 2 bored me, but Time to Kill, Land of the Babes, Manhattan Project and Duke Nukem 3D are still very enjoyable to play through
