Are you more of an ass in gaming than real life?

i normally play some CoD or soemthing and after constantly not being able to move because a gay 'teammate' is in the way or purposly blocking my path or he starts stealing my kills i switch to hardcore and mow down my own team, normally im on a friends account though which is pretty douchey cause then his account gets all the rage at it.

well, i try to be my (usually) nice self in games. right now, the only online game i own is halo: reach, so that just means not hogging the power weapons, not using them at all if im crap that night, watching their backs, and just generally being a team player. but if someone on my team is a prick, i sometimes find myself going out of my way to make their life a living hell...or their game a simulated-living hell. whatever.

In free-world games such as Assassins Creed and GTA4, definetly. But in games where you choose, like Fallout 3, and Heavy Rain, I'm too soft to try being bad. Like in Heavy Rain when Shaun wants his teddy to sleep. First time I gave it too him, second also, but on the third I said no one time, and when he said please, I gave in and gave him his teddy again.

Bigger asshole in real life. If someone was getting "Hunter-ed", and a big smoker was grinning at me, I'd leg it in RL. In games, I'm a fucking hero!

Interesting question. My initial response would be yes.

However, then i start and question that -- maybe it's just all of my repressed asshole-ishness finally coming to surface through this sort of alternate reality experience. And maybe if I was really able to be the way I wanted rather than the way society intended me to sort of play by the rules, I really would run around trying to shoot chickens and knocking over trash cans rather than going to pretend to be some sort of a hero.

But who knows. xD

Hell no. In fact, I'm the exact opposite. In games I generally try to be nice and kind to people simply because I want to promote the well-being of others. (I feel as though if I'm nice to people, they might be nice to someone else, sort of a pay-it-forward kind of deal.) In real life, I tend to be rather sarcastic and I act like a jackass sometimes, but I only act that way to people who know I'm making a joke. I don't treat people badly unless I know they can take a joke or hit me back with a snide comment, that way we both have a good laugh.

Oh, yes. Total genocide via lava teraforming was my greatest moment of ass-ness.
Let me guess. A Dwarf Fortress player? Or were you referring to another game?
Spore, actually. A good guess though. I think Dwarf Fortress just went on my to-do list.

Sort of. I swear more, and I'm more inclined to call people idiots.

That said, I do try really hard to be polite online. I even say "excuse me" when I go around team-mates.

As long as the learning... not-curve doesn't kill you. Also the interface and graphics. I don't mind, but most do.

Still, lava terraforming? A very small part of the horrible things you can do.

Online gaming, I will grind to the top on a healer just to sit around a town to buff lower players as they head out, and sometimes join them if they need to farm something.

Single player games, I will mow down everything in my path. Most games it actually pays more to do so. Bioshock, and Fallout 3, and New Vegas is a good example.

Out of game, I've been described as a kind hearted guy with a sharp tongue.

I'd like to say I'm a good guy, but the worst judge of your character is yourself so...

Hell yes. Most of the time they ask for it though and it just goes round in a vicious circle.
It's always worth winning against someone like that though.

Online, I'm a complete ass, I think cuz people are less sensitive online as they are in real life. Can't give anyone grief irl or they'll kill you or get everyone to hate you....or kill themselves.

in singleplayer games though, I generally am a good guy, only do bad to see how it is, but always good first.

What? I don't even....

I just don't understand that logic...

OT: I am as nice as I am in real life. I will get along with you fine, so long as you aren't starting trouble (or looking to start trouble).

I treat people I don't know with respect and hope they will do the same for me. Doesn't matter if it's IRL or online, but if someone is a jerk to me I won't hesitate to be a jerk back.

I am. But a large part of that is that myself and my friends all tend to be VERY competitive. We've always joked about games of Magic coming to blows, but it's that kind of "hey let's joke about it in the hopes that it doesn't happen." It also depends on what type of game I'm playing. Outside of gaming I tend to be pretty laid back.

For some bizzare reason, I seem to be a much nicer person while gaming. My brother and I got along very well while playing World of Warcraft, even if I can't stand that stupid bastard in real life. I suppose it is because I consider gaming to be my own domain, and care for it as such. You don't throw trash on your own floor, and I mind my manners in my own domain.
