Maybe I'm a little bit more of a jerk online (it's easier to act like a dick to words than to people), but overall I'm still me. I see no reason to be different online and offline. The only real difference is that I have more time to think of good points online than in conversations (and more time to realize that what I was about to say would in fact have made me look like a dumbass and a jerk).

Also, this is the Escapist, where the vast majority of us act like intelligent human beings. You're likely to have more genuine people here than just about anywhere else.

I'm more open here about, well... anything than I am in real life. I doubt anybody really knows the real me except for me. I'm just not one who opens up to anyone.
Er... forget I just said that.

Other than that I'm pretty much the same here as I am in real life.

I try to be myself here, but sometimes I'm a bit more open about my geekiness.

Within the realm of me. No need for a persona as just want to chat, not rile people up.

The man's text you see before you is very similar to the man who would talk said text. Except I rarely (sometimes do though) go on about being a "god". You guys don't get my terrible russian accent half the time but it's a necessary sacrifice.

So basically the same odd, sometimes funny, nice guy.
[sub]Yes I do talk about pants often in real life too, made a play about it and everything![/sub]

I'm pretty much myself on here.

As for why I post here, I really don't know. I just do, so count yourselves among the lucky! [/sarcasm]

I'm very much myself, thank you.

But on here (Teh Escapizt), I have a little more time to think before I speak, so I come off more intellectual then I do in real life.

Ultimately, I am myself, because while I can roleplay others, I don't see the need to. I possibly adhere to a slightly more formal sentence structure, but I use "ten dollar words" IRL as much as I do online. I've been using "big words" since I was barely more than a toddler, I've always been a spelling/grammar Nazi, and I've always been intolerant of stupidity (although I rarely feel the need to swear when pointing it out. Being polite is far more infuriating, and less likely to a) get me punched in the face, and b) get me banned from forums I like.)

I possibly put on less of the "flashy light show" I use to distract people from my core self IRL, but returning to my original sentence, ultimately, I am myself.

I'm pretty similar to myself in real life, but I'm a bit quieter on the internet. I'm quiet to begin with, but being able to proofread stuff before I post it makes me more likely to not talk.

I usually think more about what i write solely due to the fact that you have more time to think about it here.

I'm sometimes a bit more annoyed than this on other websites (e.g. I give the impression I'm constantly pissed off on another website I go to). However, in terms of things I say about myself, they're completely true.

Here's food for thought though: What are we except reactions to social situations, past experience and acquired knowledge? Who you are when your friends at college are fans of computer games is probably different to when you're friends with experienced music players who are very into music in general.

I'm myself - except I can be all of myself, all the time.

That is, in real life, I have many different faces depending on the context - professional, father, son, neighbor, etc. The only real-life persona that largely overlaps with my entirety is husband. Part of this is that I hate the leverage people have on you when they 'know' you; the other part is that I don't think its appropriate to be yourself all the time in real life. That's what manners, social norms, and whatnot are all about.

I don't want to just say "This" so...

I find that the above statement illustrates my viewpoint accurately. :)
I find that the arrangement of letters and spaces in the quote you quoted aligns itself quite closely with my own outlook on this issue.
