Do your parents like to know what videogames you are playing? Are they open to conversation about gaming with you? Does you have a parent that will occasionally play a game with you?

Or do your parents shy away from the subject of videogames and try to remain oblivious to the gaming world?

My dad will mostly just try to cut a conversation short when I am trying to talk to him about videogames. Or he will just nod his head and not make an effort to contribute to the topic.

On rare occasion he will take interest in a game I'm currently playing, he took interest in Fallout 3, for example, I'm guessing its the scope of the game that impressed him, and often asked me how much of the map I had explored. When I was younger we both played the crap outta Voodoo Vince, and is probably on my list of favorite games simply because we bonded so much playing it.

Other than that, my parents dont care what games I play, they dont need to look into what I play, they just choose not to get involved most of the time

How about you?

My father? Yes. He's a pretty big gamer. Final Fantasy, GTA, Mad World, loves em' all.
My Mom? Not so much. She likes Animal Crossing and LBP, but that's about where her interests end.

Neither of my parents, I've recently tried talking my dad into it.
But my mom used to kick my ass at CTR Racing.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no.

They don't even know how to turn on a DVD player.

My mom tries to take an interest, and will occasionally ask me about what I play, and actually be interested in the description. Even more rarely, she'll try to actually play a game, but generally speaking, she's pretty terrible at it xP

My Mom only ever liked Pac-man and Tetris.
Same here, she also played LittleBifPlanet with me once, although I must say she sucked horrifically at it.

My parents don't know much about gaming. What am I saying: they know absolutely nothing about it. They don't reject video gaming, but they're just not into it. I've never met any parent of my friends who enjoys video games.

So to all you guys/girls who have got a father or mother that's into gaming: I envy you.

My parents have no idea how games work. Hell, my mom doesn't even know how to use the internet and my dad is little better.

My mother loves 2D platform games. At one point, she would play Mario World more than anyone else here. She tried to play 3D but just didn't find them fun. She plays DS alot.

My Father plays Racing games alot. Again, he doesn't find 3D games much fun. In fact he tends to get pissed off at the main characters for not moving how he would expect and just give up due to frustration. Still his PC, while not as good as mine, has no problem playing high end games.

My dad plays games (recently bought himself a gaming PC similar to mine, slightly better actually) but he's very picky in his tastes, and if a game is too complicated he wont play it. He also has difficulty doing simple things such as jumping at the same time as crouching to reach a platform on games such as Half-Life 2 Episode Two, and he is slow to respond to things happening on screen. He gets frustrated quite easily with games and if he gets stuck he doesn't try too many times before declaring that the game is "impossible" and giving up or asking me for help. He plays all games on easiest difficulty though...

He mostly likes First Person Shooters, Strategy Games and Flight Simulators.

My mum doesn't play games at all apart from the occasional 2D game like Peggle or something similarly casual.
