My mom used to try and take an interest in my hobbies until I watched the first episode (well first 5 minutes more specifically) of Elfen Lied with her and she just gave up after that... but my dad is pretty good at Halo he beat me 100 to 13 once and he at least tries on Rock Band...

My dad has almost never played a video game besides the Wii, same with my mother. My parents also blame my gaming for the reason of worse grades one semester.
Edit: When I was young my mom did play Frogger occasionally though

My dad isn't interested at all. I sometime talk to him about them, but it's more to do with the companies and the market and stuff. Not really about many specific games or anything I do with them but what they are as a whole. He never plays them.

Unfortunately, my parents are not interested in video gaming at all. In fact, they're leaning towards though "Oh no, video games are bad for you!" side.

This is because they know nearly nothing about video games. They never got into it, they simply went on with their lives.

They tolerate it when people play it, but my parents occasionally mumble condescendingly when I play games during the night.

The worst part the fact that, since they know little about games, any time video games appear on the news, it's always about something bad (otherwise it wouldn't be on the news!). Thus, they listen and tada, now I should be careful around video games or else I'll be corrupted so much I might commit a crime, or run away from home.

Luckily, despite not liking it, they still tolerate it as a form of entertainment, so they're not going to protest or anything.

As far as I can tell, my parents aren't very video game literate. While my father did play some N64, he found it to be incredibly frustrating and eventually Mom stopped letting him play because of the yelling. Mom's better in terms of skill but probably wouldn't be able to tell Assassin's Creed from Arkham Asylum without Batman being in one.

My Dad used to play Gran Turismo when we were kids (my bro and I) but he hasn't touched a video game in yonks. He also kinds of nods his head and looks sort of bobblehead-ish if i talk about games while my mum goes 'I don't play videogames i think they are uninteresting'.

My dad is more of a gamer, but he doesn't really play anymore. Work junk.

My parents don't limit what I can/can't play, well, anything including nudity/sex is out, but honestly what game is there that has that kind of stuff?

My Dad was a Tetris Freak in the NES era. And he loved Arkanoid and 1943.

My Aunt was so pissed at being unable to beat Dad she became insanely good at Dr. Mario.

But nothing from them after that.

Dad's Tetris Skills turned my Mom OFF games. His turn would last hours, hers minutes. She doesn't mind hearing me tell the story of a game I beat, but she will never willingly touch a controller again.

As for educated? My Dad knew how bad Mortal Kombat 3 was when he got it for me for the SNES. He trusted my younger sister and I were intelligent enough to separate pixels and people.

I was 12, Samantha was 6. And he was right, we were.
(PS, She could kick, my, ASS back then as Subzero...but she preferred the older, masked versions.)

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no.

They don't even know how to turn on a DVD player.
Well, this. The saddest fact is that they've been both using computers since '78.
They are both neutral. It's my sister who thinks that video games should be burned and gamers are closet psychos.

My dad is the best tetris player I know. He once scored around 437,000 points in a single game.
My Mom doesn't enjoy my gaming habits, but she doesn't reach Jack Thompson levels.

my dad used to play mario kart and mario party with me, but he doesn't anymore. My mom on the other hand, thinks that all videogames should be destroyed and burn forever. no joke.

In short, no.

I realized early on that my deep fascination with games was not something that would be shared by my parents and I have not bothered to impress upon them their value since.

Wow, some parents are really cool. My mom is as technology illiterate as an amish woman. But my dad, he was the original gamer in the family. He taught me everything I learned about gaming, but soon enough I began to figure things out myself. When I was born, he was playing some boxing game on the Sega Genesis. He owned the PS1, and he bought the PS2 (and played it for a few months). Eventually gaming became too complicated for him. He just wanted games where he could smash stuff and race cars and whatnot, but the side-quests, and control patterns became more complicated than "Press A to punch and B to block" So he quit. Now he thinks I'm an idiot for playing videogames.
