I have two gamer uncles though. They're awesome. Both into WW2 games. Well, that's not necessarily true; My uncle Chad basically is the ultimate gamer-nerd. He's got an extreme computer and plays all the time. Lol.

My father is the one that turned me unto the wonderful world of gaming, granted, whenever we play Gears or Modern Warfare (I destroyed him at GH), he's a frecking demon. Seriously. I took six steps at one point on MWF and instantly had a round in my face.

My Dad played some Columns about 10 years ago.
My Mum played 1 round of Wii Bowling, enjoyed it.

When I talk to my parents about games, I know they arn't listening. It's nice to go through the motions.

They don't limit what I play. They knew were aware that censorship was out when they agreed to give me a computer with internet. My Dad actually helped me in a scribblenauts puzzle, then got pissed off and told me to take it away.
My Mum clued on quicker than me that the Wii's graphics were subpar...

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no.

They don't even know how to turn on a DVD player.
I hate to say it, I do, but seriously, this. My parents are so technophobic I've had them refer to my 360 as my "playbox" my "gamebox" and my "computer playboxstation". My mum is cool about gaming but is ignorant of it, while my Dad is another matter. He hates games, game consoles, game companies and gaming. He thinks that all games are "a parasite gnawing away at the righteousness of God's people" as he put it.

I'm OK with religious people, but he genuinely believes that the BNP (British Nazi Party that are currently gaining popularity in exactly the same way as Hitler), are correct. Gays, blacks, Muslims, Jews all who are non-white Catholics are scum and vermin. Non-white Christians are allowed to live, but anyone else should be shot or killed. I hate my dad when he talks about "the waste of time that is gaming" and "the way the Muslims blackmail the Prime Minister (I shit you not) into keeping them and their heathen ideals in the UK" in the same breath.

My parent's don't care what game I am play, they aren't interested. They don't think that video games can ruin my mind or drastically desensitize me, so they just let it go. They don't really like talking about video games, and the only one they have ever played with me was wii sports.

So no, my parents are not and show no desire to be video game educated.

My mum knows a bit about gaming. She used to hate them (I got a Mega Drive when I was a kid. Two weeks before the PS2 was released.), but she's gradually got used to them, looking into stuff like Red Alert and even Warcraft, but staying with the safe games like Wii Sports and Guitar Hero.

My Dad got me into gaming. He loved playing the the original Dragon Warrior games. Sometimes I'd sit and watch him play. We'd play some Nintendo and Sega games together, but he couldn't get a grasp on Playstation and beyond. He'll still talk to me about games that are out/coming out that look good.

My dad's not a person that's really into gaming. He'll play resident Evil 2 and the occasional Call of Duty game but that's it. He's mostly illiterate on the matter and doesn't want to learn since he considers them a waste of time nowadays. I still remember the first time he saw me do a battle in Persona 3.

Priceless.

My mom's vaguely into it but can never figure out the controls for games so she doesn't play.

I tried to introduce my mom to Grant Turismo 5 Prolouge, she's been a driver for 35 years, and she sucked at it.

Now my mom IRL is acually a really good driver, but wen she was put behind the "wheel" of the Subaru Impreza she could barely do dhit, she didn't know what upshift or downshift ment even though she drives a stick shift. It was pretty pathetic, here goes the 14 year old with minimal real driving experience upstaging his mother.

So no, my parents arent videogame oriented.

P.S. I have the GT driving wheel too.

Back when I was a little guy, I used to play video games with my dad on the NES. Mostly RBI Baseball 3, but we'd play a few other games. Then I got too good at them, started beating him, and he didn't want to play with me anymore.

Now, I don't think he'd be able to grasp the whole 3D, 2 analog joystick stuff. The guy doesn't even know how to text message.

My dad tried playing SSBM with me once. It was odd, I didn't understand how he could not grasp the concept of games, and he couldn't get how I knew which button did exactly what, when to press it, etc.

My mum likes solitaire.

They both let me play the games I want, and if I start talking about a game, they don't mind, and might even pitch in.

My Dad made a valiant attempt at Pinball for the NES. He was obsessed for two weeks, then gave up. No interest after the 8-bit era. Mom, never.
