Nope. My dad claims to be a gamer, but neverplays anythingbut the original Mario, and then brakes my controllers when he dies and finds out he sucks. My mom actslike I'm rambling and screamsat me if I even metnion games. And this is why parents complain about games, they don't even try to care about how they've evolved or changed.

And then they complain because the Wiimote isn't an f-ing NES controller

My moms been gaming since games were text-based, and still plays games some times. For instance she really likes the Halo campaigns, and TES: Morrowind.

Also:

No, its not a real gun, its a summoning device of sorts that only looks like a gun.

The only games that my dad can play without getting nauseous are Madden games, Wii Tennis, and Fallout 3. For some reason, after seeing the box (and watching me play for 10 minutes) he started playing. He tried CoD4, but literally couldn't pass the training mission (I know you can't actually fail the obstacle course, but he went way over the minute-long "time limit" Captain Price mentions).
My mom won't even touch the Xbox.

My mom gets interested sometimes, I don't know my dad so to make up for that part I'll tell you what my aunt thinks (who lives with me along with my grandpa).

My aunt HATES them, she'll play an occasional Mario Kart but everything else she thinks is a fat making machine and that I should've joined a sport (Which I've tried and can't get into).

my dad keeps up with big franchises and reads reviews and stuff and even played through bioshock. And my mom plays brain age, pac man and some ipod apps. So yeah they are probably more literate than the average parents

Hmm, my dad was always kinda of interested in games. He would collect shareware games and whatnot back in the early 90s and mess with them. Which was pretty much just old Apogee and id games. Up until the day I severed ties with him, he would always at least listen about them, quite the opposite of my mom, who doesn't give two shits. She used to play Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D and various adventure games back when I was a kid too. I wonder what ever happened... *sigh*

My dad has given me several lectures on the better things in life than gaming. He doesn't realize that the amount I play is no where near the amount the true addicts play. I play 4-8 hours a day(Not every day), and not all at once, and I never stay up all night for it. He showed a slight interest today when I was playing NHL 10 but other than that no. My mom and I worked together to bat Donkey Kong Country for the SNES but thats it.

To put it simply my parents are at a point that I think they would prefer me being a pot dealer than a gamer.

I really wish I were joking right now.

My parents think that gaming is the stupidest thing in existence. I disagree. It leads to a small amount of conflict.

My father was always quite a bit better at Megaman than me. He can even kick my butt in Homeworld... Which is a bit sad, I guess. He's not a Jack of all games like me, but he specializes well.

My parents have no idea how games work. Hell, my mom doesn't even know how to use the internet and my dad is little better.
Same here. Whenever my mom has to look something up on the internet she insist that I do it for her. As for my dad... he can barely use the remote for the TV. >_>

My mom is probably better than most of my family at Rock Band Drums.
Even better than me.
Word of advice, don't leave your Rock Band drums near the xbox ._.

My parents are ok i guess. My mother likes the random big fish games time management games while my dad is more interested in Command and Conquer: Generals, Doom, and Diablo. he hasn't really gone passed the 90's of gaming but inquires me of the physics and gameplay of what i'm playing(Often discouraging what I do in Call of Duty games because he used to be a drill seargeant and he thinks I'm just getting my ass killed). But he was laughing his ass off when i was playing prototype, he thought death spikes were awesome and the sword was the 'can opener of death'.

The summoning device just looks like a gun. It's part of what makes the game so unique and fantastic.
Unique, yes. Fantastic...doubtful. Then again, I don't play Japanese games.

Good for them. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
