Arkham City's Harley Quinn Might Sound Like My Little Pony

I have one question: why is it called Arkham City? There was never an Arkham City (unless you're talking HP Lovecraft; wouldn't that be a hell of a cross-over). It was just Arkham Asylum in Gotham City.

They turned entire city blocks into giant prisons when the Asylum was over capacity so essentially you are in a city where 100% of the civilians are inmates.

Well, considering that Harley Quinn isn't even a real villain and that she only gets a few minutes of screenplay at a time and that I didn't grew up with the original english voices of the Batman cartoons (but equally consistant and great voice actors), it doesn't bother me at all.

Judging by the number of My Little Pony avatars here at the Escapist, one could see Harley sounding like a pony as being a good thing. Maybe they'll even be a dash of color added here and there to make things a bit more festive and to help the new voice actress feel a bit more at home.

Now, if Rainbow Bat-Man [http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__e2VLp6gwyk/SJu5PkM1hDI/AAAAAAAAAWo/HEQbutACM94/s400/Rainbow+Batman.GIF] or the Rainbow Creature [http://mindlessones.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/134-2.jpg] (which already sounds like one of those ponies as it is) makes an appearance just to provide even more My Little Pony fan service, heads just may roll, leaving sparkles and candies as they merrily bounce toward some MadBalls reunion somewhere.

I was all ready to hate the new voice actress until I saw who it was... Now I am only sad that the world will end tomorrow and we will never see this come to fruition. Tara would have made an excellent Harley.

I hope that, amoing the bound to be hundred of posters all whining about the loss of Sorkin and immediate damnation of Strong as Harley Quin, 1 poster will realize that Tara Strong is freaking awesome!

And even if she can't match Sorkin's work, well... I mean... what the hell does Quin actually ever add to... anything?
I mean I love her and everything but... Really? What the does she even do?

I always found her voice incredibly annoying. It's like freaking Fran Drescher. Honestly, the reason they changed the voice actor is because they are sexing up the character (just look at her), and that wouldn't work with her old voice.

Her old job was to get mistreated by the joker and to use gag tricks against batman to distract him slightly. Her new job is being eye candy, maybe she'll try to seduce batman at some point, but that just seems redundant given Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Did she? I'll be honest, I don't know if that was Sorkin's voice in the trailer or not, but if it was Tara Strong than I honestly say that I wasn't able to tell the difference.

... and apparently you weren't, either, so I'd say the role is in capable hands XD

As much I loved Harley in first game, this doesn't really bother me. As long as she's got the accent down I'll be happy.

I think it's a shame Arleen Sorkin won't be reprising her role as my favourite psychologist turned psycho in red and black, but I think if you're going to get anyone to take on the character, you hire Tara Strong.
She was Batgirl, fer chrissakes! And one of the most amazing voice actors in the business.

I think Harley's in safe hands.

The fandom will be really mad. Then again, when thinking of Jennifer Hale for example, how many people think of the voice of female Commander Shepard, and how many think of her work on Totally Spies (the most weirdly fetishised childrens cartoon show ever).

Slightly disappointing, but I don't think it would damage the game that much. Besides, it has no effect on the gameplay whatsoever.

I'm not too concerned. Ms Strong is a solid voice actress with a large repertoire of voices. In all that time working, she's probably a major nerd. She more than likely has a good idea of how to voice Harley.

Now, the Joker. That's going to be weird when he's gone. Did anyone else need a few minutes to adjust to the guy voicing the Joker in Under the Red Mask? He was good, but it was strange hearing someone new after years of the same Joker.
