I once thought that it was a good idea to boycott left 4 dead 2, * I own it now * and at first hated valve in general for it, then the left 4 dead dev team, but still wondered why Gabe Newell would not stop it from coming out.
I think I understand now, money. Not some greed obsession or anything like that, I doubt Gabe is like that, but something else. It would not make sense for valve to need money for the game, just to run as a company, it gets A LOT of money from steam. What I think it was now was investors. After all valve is a company, like Monsanto, and Berkshire Hathaway, and has investors. I'm guessing who ever is head of managing money at valve or Gabe announced to their investors that they were going to make some profit by the end of the year or something. Left 4 dead 2 was probably calculated in that. If Valve were to not release Left 4 dead 2, they might have lost a lot of investors, and valve might have suffered greatly. There was no point in boycotting, I wonder if fellow former (or still boycotters) agree with me, or think this might be true.
Second, did Gabe actually work on half life, and the rest of the half life series? Tf2? Left 4 dead?
Third were the hell did the Left 4 Dead dev team come from, were they involved in any of valves former projects?
I know people are going to say this is better for the steam forums, however, I don't care.
