well, we're not quite so rare anymore
But I can still barely find you guys, it's like you're in hiding. And that's my question: if you're truly not that much of a rare breed anymore, is it true that most of you are still covering your your girly nerdiness? Is that because of the harder social pressure among girls? I've been around girls more than guys (sadly not nerdy girls), and you can be vile amongst yourselves.

It depends on our mood. We have a meter on the side of our screens called a "Guy Meter" for how long we can stand the testosterone before we need a Girl Day Power-Up.
Let us also not forget we are not exempt from the "Kick the n00b" button. If we suck that much at a game, there is a possibility we might get kicked.

I figured, considering the whole Suesiseki thing (probably not spelled right, but that's how I pronounce it).

Well then, what's your reaction to a cyberworld that doesn't believe you exist (well, most of it anyway)?

Find a group of intellectual guys. While we're not nearly as vile to each other as girls are, just see if you can pick up on how many barbs are tossed out in conversation.

I remember the other threads just like this that popped up over the years. They ended up the same way: disaster.

That said, to the geeky girls out there, what attracts you to the internet?
*feels cold wind of prophecy whisper down her spine*

Um. The vast amounts of time-killing fun and information. And I've actually met a few lasting friends this way. Plus there are more geeks on the internet, and company's fun. And I'd go into withdrawal without my daily injection.

Wow, incredible amounts of hate in this forum, simply for someone offering to help. If you arnt interested why do you comment, you are not forced to read any of it.

My question, where do you guys hang out, how do i find these gaming clubs (Dnd etc). I mean perhaps they are blatantly obvious in the U.S but over in Australia (where there is constant maintanance of a "IF IT IS DIFFERENT, HUMILIATE IT" sign) it is damn tricky to find the "girl gamers" hangout. There are no school clubs for geekyness, there are not communal advertisements but in a city of 2 million i would have hoped there would be some kind of community with similiar interests.

Any tips?

And to that crowd of people I shall extend a photograph of myself. Though it's still on a film roll in a camera and needs to be developed and printed, then scanned. With said pictures all doubt should dissolve.

I do not intend on losing at the Internetz.

Edit: Removed. Didn't note the fine print.

Edit 2:
Better.

I've spend a short time among fellow male geeks (gods I miss that time, first time in my life I was at home somewhere), and no I can't recall that happening. We were one big happy family, who killed eachother happily online.

Ah, but do they intend to lose at you?

For all we know, you could be a legendary creature that skulks around the woods and only appears in blurry or obscured photos.

I CALL SHENANIGANS! :)

What I've always 'wondered' about is, what do you feel when you are confronted with a "guys thing" in a game? Let me give you an example of what I mean.

In our guild in WoW we have a couple of female players, all (like the males) with their own vices and good traits. While they are all generally friendly and seemingly fit in, I wonder what they'd be like if I could see them at specific moments. For example, after I (accidently) told one of them to "get in between me and Dak" (another player) on ventrilo, it was taken as a rather suggestive innuendo, though the girl in question remained fairly calm and joked "I wouldn't say no to that".

It's kind of impossible to imagine a guy in the situation she was in, so I wonder, what do you do if something like that happens to you? Are you glad we can't see you and knowingly shake your head? Do you sigh to yourself and say "Well, part of the culture"? Or do you secretly become annoyed with us and our obsessive sexual behaviour?

I'm asking, basically, because I don't know the people who wind up in these situations very well, and projecting these situations on females I know from real-life would give really odd results.
Depends on the girl. But really, when in our girl groups we innuendo each other to death too, and the most we do with really bad ones in male company is facepalm usually. Unless it was on purpose, in which case expect a long awkward pause as we wonder whether we should take that as a joke or a creepy come-on.

So, with the relationship thread and the minor male-female numbers discrepancy on my mind I thought it might be fun to give myself a challenge. Other females feel free to join me in the question-answering.

Is there anything you've always wanted to ask about Geek Girls, that... well, we're not quite so rare anymore, but certainly a unique breed of female? Keep in mind that any questions asked just to annoy will be ignored. Try to keep it to things you're *genuinely* curious about.
Sure, describe your obsessions?

I find so many girls to be lacking any depth or wit, geeky girls will probably be the exception.

oh, and what do you look for in a guy?

*Watches the bandwagon whip by* "HEY!"

Anywho... *jumps on said bandwagon* Since there's quite a few here who are asking "relationship" themed questions, I'll ask one and make a complete and total generalization out of it.

Do you run into attraction more often on a physical or cerebral level?
Personally, I find myself swooning more from feats of amazing mental prowess than any pretty face. Seriously, I get light-headed, and start blushing(much to the mocking delight of my friends). Which might explain my inability to talk to some of the guys I like without totally embarrassing myself or trying to hard to come off like one of the guys to hide my crush and sabotaging myself. I don't get that way around guys that are just cute. I mostly just like playing with their minds. (occasionally my inner child resembles Alma)
