Atlantis.
That or Victorian Britain, I love that period but the only game I can think of set then is Fable 3.

In Soviet Russia target assassinate you!... Sorry, couldn't resist. >.>

I think either Victorian England or the present day would be pretty awesome. I'm saying present day because we get a glimpse at what fighting Abstergo would be like at the end of ACII and I think people would get fed up if they dragged the whole "you need to do more training" motif out any longer.

This brings up a point me and a friend discussed. Now that they've introduced guns, one of two things can happen. 1: They introduce more advanced guns to the mechanics, or 2: A heavier penalty for lack of stealth, seeing how you lack guns.

Either one is sure to cause complaints, but personally, I'd prefer 2.

OT: I'd say going back and forth from Russia and America in the Cold War, working undercover in either the CIA or KGB, but in reality, spying on both sides for the Assassins. Plus, players could do some actual black ops or assassinations.

Option 2: WWI England. Y'know how Altiar screwed up the first mission in AC1? How about the Assassins try to stop the Templars from assassinating someone at the start of 3, but fail? Considering the era, take a guess who the target is.

Edit: Wait, those were just locations for future games. 3 should continue in present time.

I'm just waiting to see how they will handle the modern day. They're going to have to eventually in order to resolve the story. I'd like to know how they will translate the current gameplay to fit it.

I would love to see either a French Revolution setting or a Mesoamerican game. Playing as an Incan or an Aztec would be disproportionately awesome. Plus, there were enough hints at the end of Assassin's Creed 1 to suggest that it isn't completely far-fetched.

French Revolution or some Mesoamerican setting. There were hints about it at the end of Assassin's Creed 1, and playing as an Aztec or Incan would be a pretty interesting turn.

i dont see why it cant go further back in time, they could go to the inca dynasty. but things like elizibethen times, the collinasation of america are mo likely... i doubt that ww1 and ww2 would be involved, since you would jsut end up playing as a sniper. pehaps you could be in the chineze war against mogolia...what ever. look if you filck through a history book, and stop at any randome page, you'll probably find a potental place a AC3.

Modern day doesn't really work. They'd just shoot you. Same problem with the Victorian.
It would be a new challenge. Fuck, what is wrong with gamers today? Whenever they get the slight waver of a hint that something might be different or new, they immediately say it will be shit.

Anyway, in Victorian era it would take them ages to reload.
Well I'm not the biggest fan of AssCreed, so a bit of variety might actually spur my encouragement. And it might take a while to reload if they were using old black powder weapons but we have revolvers by this point.

I'm calling that IF it is in Victorian Britan, "Jack the Ripper" will be a bad guy or group of bad guys. My reasoning is that there are heavy conspiracies about Jack the Ripper being a group of Freemasons, and since the modern Templars in Assassin's Creed are just one big metaphor for Freemasons and the Illuminati, it makes sense to me.

Aye, I'll further the Victorian Britain motion. That would rock awesomely.

Or perhaps somewhere different? Colonial America, perhaps?
Seconded. I also think it'd be cool to be set in revolutionary/civil war era America. I mean the guns aren't great (so you can use blades still), and I mean cmon, wartime (with guns) is fairly unexplored in AC

Elizabethan England, roughly 1580-1603. You've got the Spanish Armada, Catholic spies, an aging queen with no clear successor and people plotting against her, William Shakespeare, the plague, Christopher Marlowe and his mysterious death[footnote]Stabbed in the eye in a tavern in Deptford, supposedly over the bill...a day before his trial for heresy. The man who stabbed him was pardoned within a month.[/footnote]...it's got it all.
