I don't know that much about AC but that doesn't seem like a bad idea to set it in America before the Civil War

Civil War would certainly be a very different place to go, we've been to America and back again but how often in the Civil War era? Personally, I don't care where we go as long as the plot is nicely wrapped up, the game is still fun and high-quality. Hell, even if they continue the plot, as long as the game is AS GOOD or better than ACII/Brotherhood, I'll be happy.
100% agree, as long as the game has a nice plot it doesn't matter where they place it.

I'm still holding out a (vain, I know) hope of a game set in Ancient Rome or Greece.
Yeah that would work, it'd be cool to fight spartan Hoplites. How cool would a Trojan war thing bee?!
Probably wouldn't happen. The Templars and Assassin's weren't even around then.

admittedly im no civil war buff, but wasn't that war fought on big open muddy fields, and with guns, a AC game with no platforming and no possibilities of sneaking up behind your foe sounds rather boring.
The period sounds interesting to me, but I have to agree this was my first thought. The areas actually near most civil war battles aren't exactly metropolises to leap around. Mostly big open fields. I suppose it could be away from the battle in the more populous cities, but then it would be far from the action.

Technically speaking isn't the majority of the series set in america? At the very least, the first one before they break out isn't really stated. Really, you have no reason to have a problem with it being in America. It's just a setting. You're kind of making yourself sound prejudice.
