Make it out wood, metal, cloth, and leather and I'll be more impressed.

Still, you can get a permit to carry a knife, but I wonder if it's considered a fixed blade? I doubt it. It's seems to work like a switch-blade something people have had for years. The legality is an issue of conceal and carry laws.

#1, it's a plastic blade.
#2, The really annoying thing is that in AC2 the assassin's switched to a design that is not activated by a ring trigger like Altair's was. So we still don't know how to make one of the legit ones. : (

I've liked the concept of a retractable wrist weapon long before AC made it popular. This is really could and I'd pay at least 50 bucks for one even if it was plastic.

He says he'd be willing to make and sell these w/out the blade for legal purposes; however 200-300 bucks is too much, I'd just as soon buy a good sword.

What was most creepy about this was the music sounding a lot to me like the Creation of a Serial Killer.

A. I think its plastic. If it was a real blade though this would be the most dangerous and stupidly unsafe device ever.

B. Wouldn't something like this better be explained in pictures and diagrams rather then a short clip on Youtube? Is there no other info?

I'm fairly certain that the hidden blade was done before AC, but I suppose that it has made the concept more popular.

I know Jean Renault from Twin Peaks had one, but I doubt anyone on here would remember that.

Yes we WILL get cake. Cat flavored cake.

But seriously, this will probably go wrong in some way eventually.

Yeah, I'm both impressed and very concerned at the same time. The sheer amount of things that could go wrong and the potential for misuse are unsettling.

Awesome and yet it will result in death.
Or at least some form of serious injury. If that is a real, sharp blade I can easily see it slicing his finger/palm by accident one day.

These aren't exactly new, a quick search into youtube will show you quite a few attempts at re-creating the wrist blade, but this is by far the best Ive seen.

The biggest problem with all of them is them going off when you dont want them to but I like the idea of using a ring on a pulley to keep it sheathed.

I also like the addition of the Assassin's symbol on the blade too - nice touch! :D

That is both very cool and very terrifying.

I remember wondering how long it'd be until we saw a more functional AC blade. Having seen that, now I'm wondering how long it'll be before one of these ends up in the news.

I want one just so that when the shitloads of muggers living around my college finally try to mug me, I can just deploy the hidden blade and say "Yeah, you still want to try that, mate?". My guess is that, even if they could still probably overpower me, they'd be so shocked that they would back down. Additionally, it gives off a "Don't fuck with me" vibe, no?

Yeah, it's probably illegal, and yeah, the chance for misfire is high, but I really want to scare these bastards. They pistol-whipped my former roommate and he had to go to the emergency room. Not cool.
The main problem I see with this plan is that they pistol whipped your roommate. That suggests that they have guns. Want to have a guess at what they might do if you threaten them with a hidden blade?

This is both amazing and very scary. If I would be an Ezio cosplayer, I would worry myself sick if I was using this. I mean, the costume wouldn't be cheap so I would worry that the blade would actually go through the sleeve and ruin the it.
Wear it outside the sleeve. Thats how Ezio wears his, and he has metal bracers over them. Leave the underside of your wrist uncovered with just the blade and whatever you strapped it on with, and that'll look pretty good.

That hidden blade doesn't look home made to me though. Unless the guy had some special equipment at home for making specialised parts.
Yeah, I know. I was speaking from a partially serious, partially facetious standpoint. I probably wouldn't use the blade unless an opportunity presented itself, but it would feel so satisfying if I could. I don't want to kill anyone, just let them know that we aren't the easy targets they assume us to be.

I have read though that criminals are likely to back off at almost any sign of danger, so a hidden blade might actually scare them away. I mean, from their standpoint, why risk getting stabbed or shooting someone and getting charged for murder for whatever's in my pocket?
Thats a good theory, but there are criminals out there who are just too stupid to think of these things. If you run into one of these, they could just shoot you anyway. If a junkie needs money for his next fix, he will kill you if he has to, even just for whatever spare change you may be carrying. They are desperate, thoughtless people. I think in reality, as great as they would look on a costume, the hidden blade doesn't have much practical use. Its an offensive weapon, not a defensive weapon, and its mainly designed for murdering a target when they aren't expecting an attack. Aside from being a cowardly thing to do, even if it was someone you hated and feared, you automatically lose the self defence argument in court. If you need to defend yourself, I'd suggest taking up a useful martial art, like krav maga. That teaches defence against weapons, but it also says that once the guy with the gun is down, you run. Like you said yourself, whatever you have in your pocket isn't worth getting killed for.
