Pretty cool. I always wonder where all these cosplayers find the time and money to make this stuff.

Also, so many places where cosplaying takes place have security rules the prevent you from brining things that even resemble weapons, rendering them pointless (so infuriating!). Although I guess since this is hidden you could get away with it, lol.

The idea of a blade that comes out below your wrist (as opposed to above it) is so wildly impractical though. Ezio would totally be cutting the crap out of his hand all the time.

Looking at the link [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64dmkXUHGBw] at the end it is actually quite safe, as in it sort of can't stab through a sheet of paper placed on a tile counter... Still wouldn't risk the chance of a carrying a concealed weapon charge though.

But man is that an awesome piece of engineering!

Must... resist making this!

Wait, I suck at making things anyway. Should I ever try to make this it'd never work. World is slightly safer from me.

Very cool and very illegal.

I'd replace the blade with a Spork.
Well, i don't think it would be anymore illegal than if you were to carry around a switchblade. Maybe it would be, not sure.
Depends where you're from. In the UK it is illegal to carry a knife that size no matter what type it is. Concealed, flip, or spring loaded blades of any size are illegal.
Probably doesn't count as a blade if it's not sharp.

It counts even less when its made of plastic.

My friends older brother is making one rather like this except its all metal and has a flip out design so its a little more safe.

Its not more safe if its a real knife.
If it is a real blade, sharp or not, it is a lot more unsafe than this one.

Why would he cut his hand if the blade ejects when his hand is in the opposite direction of the ejecting blade?

I don't know but I'm scared about this. I think the reason why I'm scared about this is because it could be used to kill someone and I can see all the bad stuff that will come from it.

Assassin's Creed Blade Replica Perfect for Cosplay, Actual Murder

There's something incredibly terrifying about a perfect replica of the retractable wrist blade seen in Assassin's Creed.

Don't get me wrong, this is easily the best homemade attempt [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104394-Dont-Get-Arrested-With-This-Awesome-Assassins-Creed-Blade] at recreating the series' signature weapon I've ever seen. That ring-activated extension mechanism is quite a clever bit of engineering, and the actual movement of the blade seems quite fluid.

My horror, I think, stems from all the possible ways this project could go terribly wrong. It's bound to make any murders you commit instantly more stylish, but what happens when you forget you have it strapped to your arm and go to pet your cat?

The answer is not "we all get cake."

if you read the video description the blade is plastic wouldn't mind a real one to hang on my wall though (it is illegal to carry such a blade in the uk but owning one might be legal as you can still get switchblade razors for shaving purposes)

edit scarp the last bit i thought a switchblade was something it wasnt

Nah, there's nothing against imitation plastic blades, otherwise fancy dress shops would be struggling, lol. Of course, some police may want to ask why you would be wearing such a device around the place, and I don't think anyone would see the funny side if you were to use it to intimidate or threaten someone... then again, that applies to just about anything.
Actually, there IS something against imitations. The law where I live states that if you rob a bank with something looking like a pistol, you WILL get more time in the slammer then if you did it with your fists. Even if it was only a bar of chocolate.
Yeah - doing illegal things with imitation weapons is worse than just doing illegal things, but merely possessing replicas isn't generally illegal, though you may need a license for some things in some places and taking them out in public can be hazardous to your freedom.

As I said before, if you were found wearing a hidden wrist blade in public by the police they may have a few pointed [heh] questions for you, but unless you were doing anything with it they can hardly do much to you for carrying a piece of plastic, no matter how cool it looks ;)

This sentiment is untrue, depending on the material: if the blade is rigid plastic and the officer deems that it could cause physical harm, you can be arrested for possessing a 'shiv' [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiv_(weapon)]. Now, you can't tell how stiff that plastic is from the vid, but I would bet that it's pretty rigid or it could jam the spring mechanism if/when it warped.

Regardless, Police officers frown on concealed weapons, even fake ones-- perhaps you wouldn't get formally charged with anything, but I guarantee getting caught wearing that would at least get you a free ride in a police car, complete with a few hours spent as a 'guest' of the authorities (at least in the US).

Though technically it's not illegal to own and carry this baby in my country (czech rep.) you'd probably have a hard time explaining it to a cop. Not the brightest bunch, especially the metropolitan police.

I want one, by the way. How goes that saying... disregard the constable?
