Oh and also. The stealth can fuck right off. I love stealth, but this is some of the lousiest stealth I've ever played.
1> Enemies should not be able to spot you from half a mile away.
2> Enemies should not be able to identify you based on the one little toe of you that is out in the open.
3> Why the fuck the instant I am spotted but not even yet identified can I no longer return to hiding spot like shrubbery? I'm actually not yet convinced this isn't just a really annoying bug, because nobody is stupid enough to program the stealth like that.
The stealth did seem a little worse off than usual, but I think it had more to do with the influx of enemies.

White screens...white screens everywhere. Anyway absolutely hated the main character and story is meh at best. Very disjointed feeling to pace of a game, they fail at immersion with their stupid Animus effects, they try to remind you that you inside machine every few seconds or so and it gets annoying fast.
I didn't like ACIII at all.

Yeah, I've got to echo the same sentiments. From what I've seen so far, the game has noticeable problems that keep it from being truly great:

1) The architecture. In AC1 - Revelations, the ways to climb structures were very evident (grab on to this one brick sticking out of a wall). Now it's gone the opposite way - climbing around trees in the forest and certain structures is so non-linear that it can become an exercise in frustration. I enjoyed the larger structures of Italy/Constantinople more than the low-rise homes and churches of Boston/New York.

2) Notoriety. More annoying than fun. Get spotted by a guard? Run around/fight for minutes on end until you lose them, or finish mini-quests that take about the same amount of time. Happens in every city-based encounter. A waste of time.

3) The trading/homestead system. What's the payoff? Grinding for resources/quests for hours just to get a few people staying at my house and some extra tchochkes? At least in the Ezio trilogy, you felt like all the towns/cities you renovated had a marked difference on the gameplay and gave enough incentive to acquire some of the best weapons/armors in their respective games. This just feels like a waste of time, and it seems you can go the entire game without touching it.

4) Cutscene/chase bosses: Every. Single. Time. At least in the previous games, you could have a one-on-one fight with the final enemy (barring some gameplay conceits). Now most of it happens in cutscenes - the Haytham fight is just you luring him into objects before a cutscene. Lee has two "cutscene mode" boss scenes.

5)
Desmond dies. That's it? He puts his hand on a globe and dies? After everything he's been through. Anticlimactic waste of a character. I seriously hope that he's not dead and Ubisoft is just pulling the fans' chains, but if so, this is a pathetic end for someone who's come so far.

Conner is an irritating prick.

Jesus, try cracking a smile once every few years you joyless twat.

In other news, Desmond remains incredibly dull.
His mum got killed, his village burned and his daddy problems. I'm sure he's the happiest person in the world.
This knowledge doesn't make his character anymore enjoyable or interesting though. And seeing as you spend a good 10 hours with the guy, having him be a wild bore with a wooden face is excruciating. You'd think that with all his issues he'd have some passion or emotional response to the world around him. He made me actually me start to enjoy Desmond's character, for Christ's sake.

I already said it in another thread, but this game should've had you be a pirate captain assassin in charge of a three-master roaming the open seas Wind Waker style. The naval sections where the only enjoyable part of the whole game.
I think it's less to do with the character of Connor, and more to do with his VA to be honest. Getting an authentic Native American to do his voice is a nice touch, but Christ, the guy can't seem to emote at all, to the point where he make AC1 Altair sound like Lawrence fucking Olivier.
Yeah, that didn't help much either. The parts where they actually speak the native language was even worse. I guess it's nice for the authenticity, but--it--sounds--like--you--are--list--en--ing--to--a--voice--com--pu--ter.

I enjoyed the game but there were a few things that it was missing.

1) I never called in my assassins, there just never seemed to be a point.

2) It's so fricken hard to get more assassins (the first time). It took me 10 hours to figure out how to do it, and that was after using Google!

3) Why can we not upgrade our armour?

4) I never even spent my money, all of the weapons just seemed pointless. I ended up finishing the game with the weapons I started with.

5) The ending better be a trick or something. They can't end the series there.

One of the most peculiar things is the emails you receive.

Why am I, while using a super science device to journey into my ancestry to unlock secrets to save the world, receiving stupid emails from the people meant to be helping me? Did Ben Kenobi send emails about kittens to Luke Skywalker on his smartphone? Do the Operators in the Matrix bombard the resistance with spam about penis enlargment pills? WTF?
The better question is why do you receive emails from people in the same room as you like a bunch of passive agressive assholes.

Why do my snares disappear from the in game map? I'm supposed to memorise the location of the traps I set ffs?
Bug. This game is filled with them.

Why can't I see the drop zone for a leap of faith from viewpoints atop trees in the frontier?
That's why it's called... *puts sunglasses on* A leap of Faith.

Is the hunting club under a cloaking device?
You have to kill enough animals, hunting, to get an invite from them.

Why are guards still able to climb as well as I, a trained assassin?
Eh they could do that in the previous ones as well, so I guess is for consistency.

One of my major gripes with the game was the ending. Oh God it was terrible. I won't spoil it, but the ending reminds me of that one game that was also the third in a trilogy and also had a bad ending. You know, that one? Well anyways the ending made me feel like everything I had done in the entire series was a waste. Just. Fucking. Pointless. Oh well, time to move on to Halo 4. I'm not touching Assassin's Creed III again.

I seriously don't know why I keep coming back to this series. I love the lore and the parkour/murder gameplay, but the insta-fail stealth missions make me want to put my controller(or my Vita) through the wall. I swear I invent new curse word combinations with every title Ubisoft gives me. Yet, I keep coming back for more. That being said, I love the story. Love the twist in Sequence 3. I'm glad they kept the multiplayer relatively the same, as I've always been good at their multiplayer.I hate that they sell all the multiplayer extras as fairly expensive dlc, that just seems wrong, but its all stuff a player could earn anyway through playing.I also like Liberation so far. Aveline is a strong and very likeable character, much like Ezio was. Plus, it's been great being able to crawl up walls and murder evil assholes while waiting for my doctor's appointment, on break at work, or just when I'm out and about. Hope the Vita gets more games like it(don't fail me Bioshock, you never have before)

How does one find the ingredients needed to craft? A lot of the stuff seems to be resources you can't buy/hunt.
You craft them from other resources. EG. If you need barrels for something, first craft thye barrels using lumber.

I was undecided about this game, but there is one feature that instantly catapulted it into my slot for Best Game of 2012. That feature is the ability to pet a dog.

Seriously, I lost about fifteen minutes when I first found out that was a thing you could do. And I don't regret a single second of it.

No, but I do think it's a pretty good game so far, if a bit short. After six hours of gametime, I'm already about halfway through Sequence 6.
I bet you loved Fable 2

I'm enjoying the game, just got halfway through the 7th sequence. The game is very buggy though, so far I've seen a floating cow, a liberation contact flying above his chair (making him impossible to interact with) and after trying to free run up it I got stuck in an outhouse.

I miss a few things from the past ACs such as the buying property, it was easier than the new money making way. I also think some of the quests for the Homestead are bugged as they don't appear. The medicine is something I also missed and bomb crafting.

All in all it's a very fun game, but feels VERY unfinished and I hope a few patches will sort it out.

I loved it, from the combat to the setting. Just going through the endgame now and enjoying a spot of hunting.

I must say that my hats off to Ubisoft on this one. They didnt release a one sided biased game where the founding fathers were cleaner than a christian rock song, the redcoats went around eating children and everything was miraculously golden tinted as soon as the last British ship left.

I must say that I also really enjoyed reading through all the Animus database texts on the people, battles and places of the Revolution. I really learnt a lot that our "sanitized" history books dont teach us on our perspective sides of the Atlantic.

While on the subject of the database. Does anyone know, of those who studied the American Revolution, how accurate those entries are ?

Haven't finished the game yet, but I am enjoying it so far. I do have some issues with it though...

The damn synchronization... I hated it when they introduced it and boy did they make an effort in this game. Previously you had a few objectives, mainly one per mission (or section), but in this game they throw, give or take, a thousand objectives. No matter how much they try to disguise it, I can still see the red flash in the corner of my screen. It bugs me. I know it's only "additional objectives" but I still try to obey. This time around they just went overboard with it. I'm already limited in my approach to the targets and the synchronization only limits me more. I wish they would go and look at AC again. I loved that I had to find out my targets whereabouts and had the opportunity to scan the area beforehand, check out guard locations and my escape route. It felt more... assassin like.

I also miss the vibrant renaissance cities; being able to run long distances on the buildings and reach ridiculous heights. I understand it's not possible in this setting, but I miss it nonetheless. The trees are fun, but I still miss big cities full of rooftops made for me. I have no beef with Connor, he is starting to grow on me.

I have to disagree with most here about the guards though. Yes, they are many but I enjoy the challenge. In AC you had to watch out for them, but from AC2 onwards you really didn't have to worry about them. If you just reached around the corner you were more or less invisible again (the yellow circle was tiny compared to this game). Which doesn't really make any sense if you think about it. I must admit though, that the guards in this game have ridiculously well honed eyesights. And they are very suspicious. And it does seem a little strange that I'm an enemy to both factions. Seriously, I helped you to get the fort and as thanks you shoot me? Okey...

I like how the free running has been improved. It is absolutely fantastic that people do not make me fall over anymore (or at least has not happened yet). But I don't understand why they took out grab (when falling) and ledge grab/kills. Could be that those are introduced later, as I said, haven't finished the game yet. Or it could be a bug, of which I have seen quite a few in still instalment.
