We all know the next game is going to have us play as Connor's grandfather Edward the pirate, but I'm more interested in what they will do afterwards. So seeing as how in just four steps backwards we literally have 14 different possible protagonists leading into Desmond's gene pool, this could mean we could see ancestors from all over the world. So I ask what setting (after Black Flag) would everyone like to see be explored?

Personally I would enjoy seeing an ancestor during the Spanish civil war. It's never been brought up in video games, it's before WW2 but also has people such as Stalin and Hitler (the former being a Templar, the latter being a puppet of the Templars) sticking their noses into the conflict. I could see this working well for an AC game set closer to the present, but still in a time zone where semi automatic weapons were being used, and where swords were no longer carried by every tom and dick soldier (thus making stealth much more necessary, while still giving the possibility of close quarters battle).

Honestly, I'm so excited by the pirate setting I'm not really sure any new location will get me more excited. If anything, though, I would say the Far East. It's about time they move away from the traditional Western setting and start exploring other cultures and their history. Yeah, the first game was set in Palestine, but the last four (soon to be five) games have been set in either Europe or America. Time to switch things up.

I would love a 18th century Industrial Revolution type of setting where you are a Chimney Boy who uses free running to get around till you are forced to join the Assassin's for *insert reason here*. It seems like the perfect setting, plenty of closely built tall houses, dozens of factories with tall smoke towers and plenty of injustice for you to stop.

World War I.

The Black Hand.

The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand.

... DO I HAVE TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU, UBISOFT?

Y'know, that era where assassins changed world history in a major way? Eh? EH?!

I'm sure they're getting to it. Whatever.

I am just waiting for the game involving Issac Newton. The tale goes he was inspired by an apple. Come on, they have got to work that in somehow. I would have much rather gone to 17th century England than the American Revolution and I am American.

Actually, scratch that, I am no longer waiting for any future AC games now that Ubisoft has decided to go the CoD route of putting out a sequel a year and the mess of a game that was AC3.

Come on, have some faith. Assassin's Creed 3 wasn't terrible, it wasn't even average, it was a damn fine game that had some kinks in it. I'm sure once the next gen of consoles come out we'll see far less bugs such as the one I had where in which I can't see where I'm flying during the eagle section early on in the game. And while they're coming out yearly, it's been said that each game has had roughly 3 years of development, so maybe AC3 was just unlucky and the future games will have less issues.

French Revolution, I am just waiting for it. Paris anno 1789 would be a great city for free running and the political and social turmoil makes for a great backdrop to the conspiracy going on. Highlights includes the player breaking into the Bastille and sneaking about Versaille in search for something.

A few settings I would like are: Feudal Japan; Victorian England; French Revolution and the Russian Revolution.

Jerusalem isn't in Asia?

Well colour me surprised.

OT: Victoria England. This needs to happen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all of the Assassins Desmonds ancestors? We've seen his family tree move from Palesine, to Italy, then to the USA - how can we fit in some far-East Asian ancestor?

Israel isn't even the worst, there was a game almost entirely passed on Constantinople, that sure is western culture right there for you. =p

That will likely not be as popular and would take the story in a completely fucked up direction. It's bad enough they're railroading it already. If you want an asian franchise about assassins, there's a ton of ninja games being churned yearly. The first game being in Israel made sense, going to Japan would be nonsensical, especially due to the greek/christian background in the story both of which feudal Japan have very little relation to. Desmond's relatives in Japan would be weird, especially considering Ubisoft has mainly used historically plausible scenarios and characters so far.

The most logical sequels would be in the 19th or 20th century and finally a section to wrap up the story where we play Desmond in the 21st, sadly Ubisoft can see only dollar signs now and will milk it for years to come.

FREAKIN' SAMURAI SWORDS.
Heh... As long as they were represented as the very regular swords they were I'd be, no wait I wouldn't this would make absolutely no sense in Assassin's Creed.

Maybe one where you play as an assassin?

I mean, nothing against the series. It's always highly reliable fun. But honestly, naval battles, historical sightseeing, and huge, pitched battles? Are we a stealthy killer or a more adult version of the Magic School Bus? Forget the flash, forget the "HEY LOOK IT'S MACCHIAVELLI/BEN FRANKLIN" attitude, forget the fights that run contrary to the very name of the series, and give me an interesting and turbulent setting (the French or Bolshevik Revolution, Victorian England, WWI Germany, just to name a few) and let me play as an actual ASSASSIN. Not a soldier/tour guide.

I never said anything about Japan, much less feudal Japan. If anything, I think China around the late-19th to early-20th century would be the most intriguing. By that point, many Christian missionaries had already started trying to convert the Chinese people and certain rebellions, such as the Boxer Rebellion at the turn of the century and the Tibetan Rebellion in 1905, emphasized the tension caused by the Westerners and Christianity. It seems like a good time period to explore many of the ideas that are present in the Assassin's Creed franchise while also giving it a different setting. It also gives enough time for one of Desmond's ancestors to get out there.

Sorry for my negativity, but at this point all I'm fascinated with is just how much more stupider can the main plot get. Maybe if the setting is interesting I'll look at it as two games, one) a normal game about historical assassins. And two) wacko silly stuff about aliens and magical memory machines and end of the world shit.

But, I regress. As for the question posed by the OP.

I'd like to see an Assassins Creed during the French Revolution, the settings really just perfect for the franchise. Paris is a large, sprawling city with notable landmarks undergoing huge social political upheaval. Since a lot of other people are saying Victorian England, you could still set the game in Paris as well as late 18th century London, which would be kind of similar.

Although, since they swung the the franchise towards America you're going to have to be a bit inventive in putting the franchise back in Europe- but it shouldn't be too hard. Plus, it's a game published by Ubisoft, made by developers in Quebec- I'm all in favour of the French expressing their own history to the world, especially when i feel a lot of AAA titles are America-centric.

FREAKIN' SAMURAI SWORDS.
Of course the player would be a ninja and not a samurai. Though I guess a ninja could pick up one of the swords from a samurai.
