I like the classic Anime movies, mostly the ones by Hayao Miyazaki - Howls Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and the like.

I have not and probably never will like the Anime shows. They have always seemed mindless and repetitive and seem to employ the worst voice actors ever.

But that's just one man's opinion.

I don't think it's coincidence that a large majority of the people I've known who have watched Anime have been socially awkward.
Again, anecdotes and opinions. Give some concrete reasons why you think anime is for basement dwellers. Is it the art style, the content, the fact that it's foreign?
My opinion sticks until I personally witness otherwise.
Alright then. Go watch Haibane Renmei and Baccano!, then come back and say all anime is the same.

Elfen Lied: Greatest story I have seen in an anime and the only example I can think of where the nudity was the worst part of the show.

Soreyuke! Uchu senkan Yamamoto Yohko: Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. I just couldn't deal with this show. I watched 6 episodes and hated them all.

Yeah but Serial Experiments Lain was inspired by American Horror and Slasher films oddly enough...

Love: Monster. As I have stated before I think has some of the best examples of storytelling ever in anime. It was a very nice pick me up after Code Geass and Gundam 00.

Hate: Normally I would say Higurashi but it has the merits of being so bad that it is funny so my true hatred goes to Pandora Hearts. Never before has a series gotten me the slightest bit excited before dashing my hopes like a potters vest. The rat bastard.

Welcome to the NHK: I love this show. I actually do not watch anime that often, and I really try and stay away from it in favor of some good old fashion BBC for my foreign TV needs, but I love both the anime and manga for NHK, going so far as to track down the last book on opening day.

Death Note: This isn't so much of a hate, because I have only hated one thing that can't breath, and that's MW2, but I found Death Note unbelievably boring. I understand that the manga and anime both get better, but I found the live action movies did a better job with pacing, and I'm apparently the only person to like that movie.
