*facepalm*

I really don't have the energy for another one of these...

*Slams door on way out*
Wait for me! I heard there is a nearby bridge!
Seems more entertaining to toss myself from that then engage in another one of these.

People don't have a problem with Atheists, people have a problem with other people.

The only thing that pisses me off more than religious threads is people crying about them like little bitches.

If you don't want to read it, don't even click it. It's not like the thread title says: "AWESOME FREE GAMES"
Stop acting like those threads are using up your precious server space.
Also people flaming over the internet don't make little pandas die or rainforests disappear
So move on and start a thread about Pokemon or whatever.
Seconded with a vengeance. Ok, threads about the same stuff get boring after a while, but this guy is, at least taking it from a differnet angle. I, for one, am an atheist and have never had any kind of real abuse directed at myself for it, but then I come from England, and I've heard you do get that sort of thing happening more in the deeply Christian parts of the southern USA. Maybe this doesn't happen now, but Im sure I have heard stories from quite a while ago where atheists were not allowed to testify in court because they could not swear on the Bible. http://majikthise.typepad.com/majikthise_/2008/04/state-rep-athei.html , I'm not sure if this is quite the rightthing but ya' there you go.

I personally have no problem with atheist and I go to church every Sunday (I found the church with shortest mass thus making me a winner), more of my friends are atheist than not. Its really that people believe that if they don't have a set belief they must have no morals and thus, evil. Another reason people dislike them is that a few people think that atheism is a 'fad' and must be spread like abrocrombie jeans (i don't care if I spelled it wrong) and thus yell out 'The Jesus is a Lie' or 'I see you have an imaginary friend'.

And, person above me, a lot of progressive states do not make you swear on a bible any longer.. I think.

EDIT: Also starting a religious thread is a great way to get your hot topic badge.

For the love of whatever OP, what have you done!

Anyway, back to a serious reply, i think it's because Atheism challenges people's views upon which they have built their life. It's scary for them to contemplate that everything they have based their life upon is a lie.

Ew.

I love the presupposition that what they believe IS a lie.

Crap like this starts flame wars.

The fact of the matter is that people have problems with atheists because people have a very narrow view of reality and an atheist directly challenges everything they believe in, whether they wanted to or not. However, no one I know (in KANSAS!) cares that I'm an atheist. Go figure.

Some people have problems with atheists because some atheists wish to ridicule and make fun of, the other persons god, or goddess or higher power.

Not all atheists are like that. I for one, am not. But people still see fit, to group the nice atheists with the ones who have a huge problem with someone who doesn't believe in what they do.

Oh, and this thread has been created about a million times. Whoever is reading this, please don't make another one like this.

Because seemingly all people who follow belief sets are insecure and find anything that may contradict their viewpoint offensive.
While I was sincerely hoping this thread wouldn't turn into just another flame war, which was extremely likely from the very start, you just started one. All that needs to happen is one highly religious person reading your post and KABAM!! I KILL YOU!! (not actually a threat, just a reference to a certain funny ass puppet).
