Well, the idea behind the word "faith" is to believe without proof. While i'm not a church goer myself, on paper i'm still christian. As my uncle once stated, I'm a "hatch, match and dispatch" Christian.
I feel i should also say that, despite your ranting, nobody really cares much for this argument. it's been done before. most people accept other religions, without following them blindly. It's similar to the case that, although i don't like football, i won't hold it against those that do. not to say football's a religion...

Just one thing... I am an atheist and I just want to say that you should also mention all the Christians and Catholics and w/e else that rant on that there IS a god, as though they have seen him and sat down for tea with him just last week. I agree 100% with everything you say. There is no proof that god doesn't exist. But there is also no proof that he does exist, and anyone saying they KNOW he does is a fool. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go build a fortress to prepare for the onslaught of flamers who will no doubt cook me alive in a steaming vat of Jesus.

Also a lot of "Atheists" are dumb high school kids who think its "cool" to not believe in a god.
Atheism (yes, the "e" does come before the "i") actually is the belief that there absolutely is not a god, and in that sense there actually aren't a lot of genuine atheists. Most of us who use the word atheist are actually defacto atheists, meaning we believe that the probability of a supernatural deity existing is so low that it is a moot point, but we do not claim it to be absolutely impossible, so in technicality defacto atheists are agnostics, but in practice they are atheists.
People like myself follow in the steps of Richard Dawkins, himself a defacto atheist, who very consciously uses the term atheist because it is more confrontational than agnostic.
That said, those of us like Dawkins and myself who attack religion add another name to our resumes; we are anti-theists. So you are right to say that there is a difference between believing 100% that there isn't a god (atheism), and believing that religion ought to be attacked (anti-theism).
All that said, I used to share your opinion. People were free not to believe, but they shouldn't attack other's religions, they were free to believe what they want to believe too. After I read the arguments that anti-theists like Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris make, however, I became an anti-theist. You shouldn't judge all anti-theists by the dribble that frequently appears from uninformed anti-theists on the internet, there are some excelent reasons to attack religion.

No. Atheism has nothing to do with scientific fact or logic. All atheism is is a lack of a belief in any god. That is it. It has nothing to do with science, logic, reason, etc. You can have atheism without science, logic, or reason.secretsantaone said:
