So its that time of year where everyone around the country has a bbq, drinks beer and acts as aussie as possible. Unfortunetly nowdays the most aussie thing I can think of is wearing a shirt that says "Australia - Support it or fuck off" while beating up foreigners.

This has got so bad that whenever I see someone with an aussie flag on their car or a southern cross tat I automaticly label them a drunken racist who loves their country a little too much.

I'm also sick of being called un-australian because I don't like lamb.

What are your thorghts on this? Is it only a trend that people in the early 20s are following or is this a serious problem?
I thought it was New Zealanders who were all about the sheep? Didnt know aussies were in on it too
we eat sheep not new zealand sheep though its baaaad

Apparently there was "racially inspired violence" at the Australian Open today. Australia day isn't looking that great from my perspective and I'm the whitest guy you'll ever find.
to put it this way its only the racists, cockheads and paulene(?) hansen that give australians a bad name (im not sure about the last one though she might be all of the aforementioned ones)

The people who are openly hostile to migrants are idiots. But it is questionable why governments pursue large scale immigration policies promoting multi-culturalism given overseas problems. For instance research on it by Robert Putman at Harvard shows that increased diversity leads to reduced trust and community engagement. Prof. Putnam cited other studies that have found people in ?diverse? workgroups?not only of race but also age and professional background?are less loyal to the group, more likely to resign, and generally less satisfied than people who work with people like themselves. He also noted a study that found carpooling is less common in racially-mixed neighborhoods. Carpooling means counting on your neighbors, and people are more likely to trust people like themselves. Studies from Australia, Sweden, and Canada also show that ethnic diversity lowers levels of trust, and the same effect is found in non-Western countries.

Dora Costa of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Matthew Kahn of Tufts University analyzed 15 recent studies of the impact of diversity on social cohesion. They found that every study had ?the same punch line: heterogeneity reduces civic engagement. In more diverse communities, people participate less as measured by how they allocate their time, their money, their voting and their willingness to take risks to help others.?

Even the economic benefits of mass immigration are questionable. The report last year in England by the Lords economic affairs said immigration had had "little or no positive impact" on the living standards of the existing population.

So why does the Government still pursue mass immigration policies? It shouldn't just be presented as a fait accompli to serve corporate interests who benefit from greater wage competition. At the very least the focus should be on ensuring highly skilled migrants only are allowed in. One of the problems the US has is having mass low skill migration from Mexico where second generation migrants aren't going on to college in the same numbers as Asian or white migrants. As society becomes more complex this means they become state dependent.

I'm a patriotic aussie.

And I'd like to say you people disgust me ay!

You don't agree that the Minorities are taking over our fucking country, Do you not see the labels everywhere "Made In China" What the fuck happened to "Made in Australia".

I'm not racist so to speak I don't hate Minorities nor do I condone bashing them, However I do support a more Proud Australia a more Australian Australia, Aussies who have a 100% right to be here not ones that migrate have a child and claim there child is Australian because they were born on this Proud soil.

I do also believe aboriginals need to get more respect and more back, We took there live's heritage and traditions.

But come on people wake up, this is no longer Australia, this is becoming an 'Air Port' people from everywhere taking over!

It's becoming ridiculous.
