Basically the only ones I don't like are the ones that are downright designed to be insulting or degrading. Also the self agrandizing ones are a huge *YAWN* but other than that go for it.

Also just to throw in my opinon? I think the pony avatars are some of the best and most hilarious. Sorry but whoever has "Sorry I can't brain today, I gots the dumb!" on the Applejack picture has given me many great laughs. Also a classic is the little kitten with it's ears perfectly laid back looking up with anime eyes saying "you eated my cookie?"

My own is meant to be a metaphor for how I see my home. Under fire, Rushing foward anyway and is...is it me or is that madman actually smiling? Steel isn't forged in ice....

i try really hard not to judge but the MLP thing is getting ridiculously popular in the way of twilight, to the point that everytime i see one my "rage gauge" fills up just a tad bit more that day

and yes, i did just compare twilight fans to MLP fans, get over it if your seriously offended by it.

if you do have something original and funny or something that makes me go "huh, neat" then i might sneak you a few internet cookies while no one is looking ;]

haha i will admit at one point in the past there was someone with a "anime" like avatar and they were extremely condescending and ignorant, to the point anytime i saw a avatar even remotely like it i would go into rage mode and be rude as fuck if that person was in any shape or form not being perfect...as in agreeing with everything i say.

Funny thing, one of the characters in that show is actually named Twilight. Well, Twilight Sparkle to be exact.

Having yourself or a meme (MLP does not count) is kinda weird to me.
A meme I can understand, but yourself? Could you explain why showing an image of yourself instead of a fake representation of you is weird?

You've got my curiosity running!
Something about it gives off that kind of "Look at me I'm so different (or the occasional look at me I'm so good looking)" vibe, not that people who have themselves as their avatars always think that, but that's just the kind of impression they give me.
Ah. I can see how you could feel that way. Hell, I sometimes get that vibe, myself.

[sup]Usually if they are much better looking than me >_>[/sup]

Thanks for the reply ^^

Can you elaborate? There are a few people I've seen that share your opinion, and I've always been curious about it.

OT: The only thing that I don't really like is when people don't have avatars. It just seems kind of lazy.
That was a joke. -_-

...mostly.

For the record I've actually SEEN a couple episodes of MLP and I think it's better written, better animated, and more mature then most anime. That's probably one reason anime fans are so easily annoyed by pony avatars.

Anything in reference to the Half Life Series/Acclaimed actor and comedian Hugh Laurie = Super Awesome Guy.

Anything Else = Meh.

Its not so much a bias as a "Aw, thats a shame" kinda deal, when i see avatars of amazing pictures that are just too detailed to really be an avatar.
Picking the right picture is part of the art form, and if it doesn't work in the context of that little box then pick something that will.

Why i find symbols as a whole work better than pictures.
Also: why MLP pics work well because of the really simple color pallet and big black lines.

Er... Why would you be biased against someone with a particular avatar? Am I missing something, or is that literally the extent of it? I barely even notice names, let alone avatars.

I don't really mind other's avatars. I actually like to see what kinds of pictures people have found to represent their personality. I find that the zanier the image or .gif, the better. Plus it's always fun to try and figure out what is pictured.

As for the MLP avatar haters (or any avatar hater out there), no one is forcing you to look at them. If it enrages you so much to see the cartoon illustration of a popular children's toy, then by all means avert thine eyes. It would certainly save you the frustration (and high blood pressure, and headache to follow). Or if you don't like them, you could simply say, "Eh, it's not my thing," and walk away.

I'm biased against threads about how we can claim to know a person's entire personality based on the 100x100 picture they choose to show on an internet forum.

I don't have any real bias, but I want to sate my SUPPORT of the MLP phenom. It's all in good fun.
I am bis against Boston Bruin avatars, also Montreal Canadians, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Maple Leaf avatars, the rest don't bother me.

I'm bias towards people with My Little Pony avatars because no one has yet to explain to me what all the fuss is about. Till then, it looks ignorant and like a passing meme. Sorry guys.
It's basically just a really, really, REALLY well-done cartoon that alot of people like. There's really nothing else to it.

I find the sudden onslaught of Justian Beiber avatars to be annoying. Even I have a Justian Beiber avatar. Whaaa-? Wierd.
You pushed the red button.

I have no real avatar biases unless they're particularly irritating to look at, which covers seizure avatars and nothing else.

I LEIK TEH PREATTY PONIEZ

OT: Only REALLY Pretentious ones like guns or a soldier or death or something from a very pretentious anime. but anything from tf2 is sweet as well as funny reaction/creepy faces. If I laugh at an avatar I will definitely read their post.
