1. Yeah, agreeing with Texas on that one; Prohibition era shenanigans are always the best shenanigans, especially when mixed with just the right amount of magic/fantasy. There's a reason why Baccano! continues to be my favorite anime series. In fact, I daresay that such a scenario would surpass even Rainbow Dash levels of awesome.

2. Also agreeing with the good Dr. on not being a bender. I don't really care what time period/universe this is going to be set in, dibs on playing the cocky swordsman with Rock Lee speed levels.

Now, I don't remember but, did anyone ever call someone 'doll' or 'dame', or talk about gams at all in Korra? I doubt it, but really, wouldn't it have fit in great? Really, there needed to be more classy skirts and shady businessmen.

Speaking of, I call dibs on the soft-spoken, neat-freak of a suit. Assuming that it takes place in Republic City. Otherwise... I'll come up with something.

Just so you guys know, I plan on bringing in the Cabbage Man no matter what timeline we use. He's just one of the background characters I'll be bringing back with this rp. He deserves it after how much pain and suffering he went through on any one episode...So I'm going to put his family, ancestors, descendents, etc. through even....more...yeah, that makes sense...right?

Edit: I forgot the first reason I posted. I'm a moron. I'm going to leave this poll up until around midnight or 2 in the morning over here, so about 6 - 8 hours more, and the timeline will be set and the sheet should be up about that time, so keep a lookout, I'll name this like Pre-Aang or Roku's Demise or something. Nothing will change, same thread, new name, and the sheet will be on the first new post I do as well as the OP.

Of course it makes sense! Cabbage Man, and by extension, his record-player selling descendant, are ICONIC to Avatar. They are practically REQUIRED, just like any and all cabbages must have HORRIBLE THINGS done to them.

To be clear, I want to do a good guy Chi-Blocker. If we're really going to do Post-Roku/Pre Aang then I have to be ready to make a character that can be included in ALL of the timelines which means I got to brush up on AvatarLore.

Time to go to the Avatarwikia.

Just to try and shorten your search, everything I've ever found on Chi-Blockers say that Ty Lee was the first one, though I would be willing to accept one if the bio was good enough and it wasn't too OP, we all know how powerful Ty Lee was, even though she didn't have bending or ranged weapons really.

.
Chi blocking is a circus technique Ty Lee learned of... I do think that the only non-benders would be just plain warriors (Like Sokka).

That easy, he dosen't used Chi-blocking for every fight, and or every bender. His main form of attacks are Escrima Sticks, and he more intresting in showing off being a Entertainer. He is not a jerk but gets jealous over his three brothers, Mother, and Father are Earthbenders. In fact, I'm making him a acrobat because how else is he going to learn how to learn Chi-Blockings? Speaking of Chi-Blocking:
While at the San Diego Comic-Con 2011, Bryan Konietzko stated that chi blocking was not an art unique to Ty Lee, rather that it was ancient and "cloaked in secrets".
That is very new to me.

So, I was thinking on why he learn chi-blocking. He learn in the Circus for the exact purpose of what? You really don't need to learn the charka points when you above the crowd on a tightrope. So, I was thinking on giving him a trouble past, Maybe he learned Chi-Blocking as a further training on being an Assassin for the Circus? Which would explain why he dosen't used Chi-blocking in most fights, because it remind him of his old life? So he sets out not to take lives as humanly possible, using Escrima Sticks in an efforts to stick with it.

Man, I can't believe I want to RP this guy so badly, its hurts.

EDIT: "to stick with it." Even when I'm trying to contemplate my Character past, I still managed to include a pun. That's terrible.

Dr. Wonderful - your workaround is not very good. If it's just knowledge of chakra points, the sage Aang met knew of them as well. You don't have to be a circus man either.

Which is why I'm reading the Wikia now, but damn did it get bigger!

I should also rewatch the (original) series, now that I have Nexflix

Keep it up and we may have to punish you.
...
I'll stop now.

But in all seriousness, would it be possible for an unmastered chi blocking user to only be able to disrupt ki flow momentarily? Would that suffice as a workaround.

Actually, I was planning for him to be able to stop someone chi flow for a 40 seconds. 120 secs at most.

The whole point, though was to disable someone and then kill them in their moment of weakness. Which is why I (kind of) like the Assassin Background.

I could see that sort of thing working, and the background definitely works. I have the start of a few ideas in my head, but I wouldn't be able to hammer those together quite yet.

Ok guys, sorry I didn't get back to you when I said I would, but a few things came up and to make a long story short, I haven't slept yet. But anyways, consider this open for applications. Everything after this I'd appreciate if discussion on sheets were kept to a minimum or pm's. Also, it's been decided by a majority that it will take place during the Post-Roku/Pre-Aang area of time. So it's going to start in the Earth Kingdom in Ba Sing Se. No one knows Roku is dead yet, that's about the one thing no one can know at the start. I'll let you know later on, since I"m going to say the Earth Kingdom Avatar temple is South-West of the city near the Serpent's Pass in the mountains.

The meet-up will be determined once I've chosen the sheets and decided how best I can get you all in a small enclosed space for the Fire Nation to fry alive. And since the Alt. Timeline was the one with the next highest votes, I'm going to change up a few things. It may be nothing major or just a matter of canon manipulation, but things'll be a bit different. Big things like Roku, Cabbage Man, or the Dai Li will still be the same, but you'll see as the story goes on.

Name: self-explanatory
Gender & Age: how much do falling on narrow horizontal sufaces feet first hurt you? And how often do you remember the pain?
Concept:(bender,non-bender, which Kingdom you're originally from, what type of bender you are etc.)

Appearance:how pretty are you? Or as the case may be, how much do we wish to look away from Sparky Sparky Boom-Man's ugly cousin?

Personality:how much do you abhor cabbages? Would you kick a Platypusbear when it's down, or do you just go with the flow(that's not an invitation, air benders) and think everything's hunky-dory?

Equipment:your swords, staves, weapons of mass bending supernovas, etc., go here, also go ahead and put anything special, I'm going to assume Waterbenders have at least a personal bending source on their bodies.

Fighting Style: this is really only for the non-bender sheets, so no real reason for benders to have this on their sheets, you've got your bending and the associated martial art I'll assume you're at least proficient in, unless this states otherwise.

And just for reference if you are going to look up your associated martial style, here's a vid that'll at least tell you the name so you can write it for your character. I'd rather have each character to write their combat scenes slightly different from one another.

Bio:guess what? You weren't born yesterday, so you can't be the Avatar, really the only limit I'm imposting. And also, Air Nomad sheets can have their Bison, but I'm imposing a limit of four grown bodies to a Bison(including the Air Bender steering, not a weight restriction, just a matter of space, you saw how crowded it started getting when Toph and Zuko joined in on the saddle orgy.(wrong choice of words not-withstanding, you know what I'm talking about.)

...I'm pretty sure there was already an RP in this time frame, but hey, a slightly alternate timeline sounds like fun.

Name: Daiyu Tseng
Gender & Age: Female, 25
Concept: Mercenary Firebender from the Fire Nation
Appearance: Is about 5'9 with dark hair that is usually tied back, gray eyes, lots of tattoos on her arms and back, and multiple ear piercings; wears a red tunic, black pants and leather boots, as well as leather gauntlets.
Personality: Daiyu is loud, impatient, and doesn't really care what other people think about that. She cares only about her own freedom and disregards authority. She is not much of a "people person", and tends to come off as cynical, sarcastic, and rather rude. She also has some axe-crazy tendencies, often leaping into battle with blades out or flinging fire around, depending on what she feels like using at the time. She may not be a "good" person, but she does care little for the Fire Nation and its' expansionist leanings.
Equipment: Paired dao, plus a sheath for small dagger; also wears a belt with pouches on it, and straps across her back for her sword sheaths.
Fighting Style: Typical firebending style (Northern Shaolin Kung Fu)
Bio: Born to a poor family in the Fire Nation, Ching Lan ran away from home when she was 16, eventually becoming a mercenary. She spent the next few years traveling the world, working for the highest bidder and doing everything from bounty hunting to piracy and engaging in some illegal activities on the way.

I made a sand bender sheet a while ago for the last Avatar thread, considering that one tanked within a few days, I think I could dredge it up.

*Edit* And from the depths of RP hell, Genji will rise again to maybe participate in another Avatar RP!

Name: Genji Ming-hua

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Appearance: Average height, about five foot eight, with black flowing hair and black eyes. He has piercing smooth skin and wears a flowing white cloak with a tiger across the back over white traditional clothes.

Skills/Bending (if a bender, include specifics on training): As a sandbender, he was trained to fight with grace and flare, somewhat like a waterbender and to direct the sand as a weapon of offense and defense. He always carries a large jug of sand on top of his sailer and uses it when necessary. His focus is on blocking enemy strikes with a fluid use of the sand and attacking any opening left for him. If in dire need, given some time he can crush and separate the earth around him in to sand.

Weapons/equipment: Genji prefers to go weaponless and uses the sand to block enemy attacks and as a spear on occasion. His armor is non existent as he wears clothes that allow him to move freely.

Back story: Born in the Si Wong Desert, he was trained from a young age to be a prodigal user of the rare bending art. While all earthbenders can use sand, very few can match the precision and power that Genji has over it. Even from his youngest age he showed real talent in the art of strategy and skill. Though his physical performances were usually lack luster.
When Genji was twelve, he was proficient in the sandbending styles that marked his area. To be able to withstand all of the enemies attacks, then strike their openings with all your force. He studied as many battles as he could and became an expert in the art of war by the age of fifteen. While he was happy in his home for a time, he found life there to be monotonous and boring. It was when he turned sixteen and his master finally succumbed to his age, that Genji realized nothing could come of living in the desert forever. Within a month, he had prepared himself to leave and go to the Earth Kingdom, a place where he could truly shine.
On his first week in the Earth Kingdom, he could hardly contain his excitement but he felt as if he did not belong. Traditional clothes from his homeland were scrappy at best and did not fit with the very traditional and fancy looking clothes he was surrounded with. He eventually found a home with a shopkeeper and her family when a robber was attempting to steal a large sum of goods and he stopped the man cold. The shopkeeper repaid his kindness with dinner at first but when she found out about his situation, she took him in to her family. What he did not know was that she was actually part of a very wealthy family that pooled together their resources. They gave him new clothes, proper washing and good food and he found himself remade as a citizen of the Earth Kingdom. While at first he found everything about them strange, he soon adapted and quickly gained fame. He still has his sailer stowed away in one of the guest houses and keeps bags of sand on him in case he needs it, though the large jug of sand that he once used is also stored inside the sailer.
Around two years later, he still found himself nowhere near where he wanted to be and it drove him to look at the military. Though he did not fit with their general formations, he found himself right at home with strategizing and while he still has yet to join the military. He is currently devising a way to prove his ability to form plans of attack.

Was that the one from a year and a half ago by chance? I think I recognize the sheet. Might be able to see what I tried to do back then.
