Is anyone else as disturbed by this as I am?
Not really. I think if people buy the DVD and choose to watch it then thats up to them. I also find it amusing to think that they are actually going to do something as weird as telling us how these fanasty creature have sex, usually unheard of for films.
Its not disturbing as apposed to just being silly but im going to bed there will be many who will buy the DVD and watch it, probably loving it also depending on how it looks. Belive me (and i bet you won't) i won't be watching it. Then again, im not sure im going to get the DVD, havn't even seen it at the cinema yet.

Wait, I'm pretty sure I saw something more suggestive than a sultry kiss when I saw the film in the cinema. Perhaps it's just censored in the US, like certain passages in His Dark Materials.
What part of His Dark Materials was censored in the US?
Lyra's..um..Sexual maturing. It's not explicit at all.
That's what I heard, anyhow. Although it was on Wikipedia.
I thought they would censor the whole "We're gonna go kill God, because he's a bastard" thing, due to how religious that country is... or at least how vocal the bible-beating minority is.

But I read the UK versions of Northern Lights + Subtle Knife and Lyra's sexuality must have been pretty underdone because I don't remember anything about it. I do have a TERRIBLE long term memory though.

Grr, really wish I could go back to the series but it's been so long since I finished The Subtle Knife, picked up the Amber Spyglass recently and am completely lost. Need Cliff notes.

wow, that makes me sad, makes it seem like james cameron is actually in it for the obscene amounts of money, over actually having the movie as he envisioned.

and i was wondering how the na'vi actually had sex...

i would have read the uncensored version... and i can't, for the life of me, think of anything they could have possibly thought necessary to censor.
mind you, this is the same system that rated donnie darko and the cowboy bebop movie R 18+...(they're M15+ here)

I'd say just start the whole series again. I powered through the books in about 3 days recently. Pullman is an amazing writer..

He's a great writer (ENVY) but the Amber Spyglass just gets progressively more polemical (and more poorly written) as you go on - plus I just don't particularly like the man. Besides, it's mostly Paradise Lost told from Satan's perspective and then some along with some Plato and Aristotle with a few german philosopher thrown in for good measure.

OT: Huh - I already thought they were getting it on when she was sitting on top of him but never mind - sounds interesting. Bow-chica-wow-w-oh dammit ninja'd.

Mass Effect already had blue alien sex.
And even that had at least 3 seconds of bare ass and a bit of side boob! This is just some people looking at each other from what I just read!

I wonder how awkward it was making a blue alien sex scene.
Well Cameron takes himself very seriously so I'm sure he was the only one who did't have any problems at all with animating it.

I always find it funny how people suddenly get distracted by stuff like this and refuse to look at the whole movie but focus on a small detail like aliens having sex and refuse to get over it seeing how it doesn't really affect them. And when people see something on screen like sex and become uncomfortable because they think its happening to them.

I like avatar so I don't really care, I still like it regardless if a sex scene is popped in. Man you kids will jump up and down about anything these days that don't fit your narrow minded ideas.

Considering 95% people here have seen the horror of 2 Girls, One Cup, I can't imagine why you all think it would be that bad.
